I got a 710 math on the march 10 SAT with no prep, but I’d REALLY like an 800.

Is there a good possibility of getting an 800 math by the october SAT if I study and practice assiduously from now until october?

Is there a good possibility of getting an 800 math by the october SAT if I study and practice assiduously from now until october?

800 means that you didn’t miss a single question. I have gotten 2400 on the SAT now two times, but the last time I missed 2 questions on Math (I think) and got a 760. So in that time period, you will put yourself in as good position as you can, but I don’t think anyone would say that there is any certainty that you will get an 800.

I would feel confident stating that if you assiduously study from now until October, you will get a 750 or higher but I would not say that you will get an 800 unless you have gotten an 800 on each of 5 full-length, timed released SATs.

sometimes you can miss 1 and get 800

don’t make any mistakes.

Chris_C, where would I be able to get 5, full length timed SATs?

I really will do anything to increase my chances of an 800.

Well, the test that is given out as the “Pre-test” on CollegeBoard is the October 2005 test, so there’s 1. I would get the other 4 from the Online Course offered by CB (Tests 3,4,5, and 6). If you look around here you will find a way to get the online course for free, but I cant tell you b/c I have already been slapped by CC for doing so. You could go with the Blue book, but the Blue book is getting ripped for being too easy (I don’t use it anymore with my students), so in your case I would aim for the PR tests or some tests that people agree are harder than the tests in the Blue Book. There are currently 6 released SATs, so ask your friends, college counselor and maybe they will have one or 2 of them as well.

88888888,

You cant miss 1 question and still get an 800 on the Math section. I just checked the released SATs and if you miss one question you are typically at 790, occasionally 780.

just do lots of practice tests. that’s how i went from a 640 to a 700.

Are the college board online course tests as hard/harder than the real thing? Also, how much harder are the PR tests? Significant to the point where it could help me on the real thing if I start acing the PR ones?

Thanks, guys.

I think the Online course tests are pretty accurate, but I dont know what the rest of the ppl out there think.

I dont know if the PR tests are necessarily harder, but I think they are closer to the real thing than any of the other books.

Also, Gruber’s has some hard tests, but the hardest Math questions are the middle questions not at the end as on the real SAT, so I don’t like those tests only for that reason.

hey, i’m also interested in this as well since I’m looking to buy books…are the PR tests even more accurate than the college board tests?

Thing is, I thought the March 10 SAT’s math was a fair bit easier than any blue book test I’ve taken, but everybody else says that the BB tests are easier.

Am I just a weirdo?

No; I thought the same thing as well. The test itself was much, much easier than the blue book, Princeton, or Kaplan practice tests. :

I thought the March 10th SAT was easier but it was also easier to make stupid mistakes which explains my lower than average (at least to me) math score.

710 >> 800 is doable. Most likely you just need to brush up on some concepts and make sure you double check your answers and you’ll be fine. I sent you a link to smartdoodle.com, hope it helped.

Ashraf,

Do you really want us to answer your question? :-)

Well, on second thought…:D

you CAN miss one question and get 800. Happenned on the december october 06 tests.

anyways, at that level its more about not making stupid level 1,2,3(/5) question errors. You should be able to do all the hard problems. its more about concentration than knowledge at this point…

I don’t know if I can do all of them…there are some blue book problems that very nearly stumped me.

I’m in the same situation. All I can say is, just keep on practicing.
