Hi all. Like many of all, I received my June subject test scores back and I scored a 740 on the Bio M exam. However, with my 35 on the ACT, it is optional to submit this score to colleges like Duke. Is my 740 a strong enough score to be worth submitting to schools like Duke or UNC?
Duke and UNC are very different schools with very different admissions standards. It is unwise to conflate the two.
Your score will not be held against you at Duke. It will be viewed as a positive at a school like UNC which is much less competitive.
Thanks for the advice. Now, would a score of 740 be held against me for an Ivy League school like Cornell or Columbia (not H/P/Y)? I know Duke’s admission standards can be comparable to those schools in some ways, but it seems like you know what you’re talking about.
You are correct. Duke is slightly more selective than Cornell and has higher average SAT scores than Cornell does. However, Columbia is slightly more selective than Duke. None of these schools will hold a 740 against you.
