7th/8th Grade courses: Intl applicant?

I took the O level track in Singapore in 7th and 8th grade, what would constitute the ‘Advanced Courses in Mathematics’ portion of the UC application?

Also, what is a ‘magnet high school’?

Calculus would be considered advanced, if I recall correctly. If you took A maths you should be fine. If you are taking A level maths at any level, you are good to go. (7th/8th grade = Sec 1/2… you were doing O levels by then? Just curious.)

A magnet high school is a public school that draws students based on their specialized curricula. While Singapore has a number of specialized schools, I don’t think you need to worry too much about which option you pick.

See your school’s college counselor if you have one. UC is a popular choice; they’ll know what you should be putting in your application.

Hehe nope I meant I was in the O level curriculum then, not actually taking exams yet! I honestly can’t remember if my school had A math in the sec 1/2 years so maybe I should leave that blank.

Thanks so much for your input, good thing you know all about Singapore :)

Haha. Well, I think that Berkeley isn’t too concerned with your sec 1/2 classes. Really. They put much more emphasis on the next four years - especially sec4/j1 years.
