7th grade SAT and ACT scores

MSM has a good point.

1830 as a seventh grader… 2280 as a junior in high school… Woo

about to take tests for duke tip. wondering if I get anything from JHU even though its duke. hope i do good.

Treeloop, remember that the test is an above-grade level test for you; don’t be freaked out if you don’t know things on it. It’s to “level-set.” Since you’ve been testing at the top of age/level appropriate tests, the SAT will be a better measure for you.

I’m pretty sure you can get on a mailing list for CTY stuff if you request it from them, and you can always check out the CTY website.

Good luck and have fun!

7th grade - 710CR 670M 630W
8th grade - 800CR 800M 720W

One year of math and a few books did well for me. ;o

do people usually improve a lot between 7th and 8th grades?

7th grade-25
8th- 29
10th- 31
I ended my ACT run with a 33 last year.
I always scored high enough in English to get into programs but my parents never let me go.

7th grade SAT: 720 CR, 540 M, 720 W
8th grade ACT: combined 33
9th grade SAT: 730 CR, 700 M, 710 W
Yes my writing score went DOWN. after two years of school! I have no idea how that happened. Happily my math score went up, the first time was just because i had never learned geometry or algebra 2 in school and was clueless about the questions!
I’ve always been an ACT gal anyway so i don’t mind too much.
In 7th grade i qualified for MATS through northwestern university and got a cute little medal for my reading score, then i got two more in 8th grade for reading and combined. Also since i got 36 in reading they gave me a $500 voucher toward one of their classes! Anybody else get stuff like that?

wow your 7th grade cr is really high! I don’t expect to do well in math either because so many things were not covered and i am not really interested to study math by myself. i am one of the best mathematicians (lol) in my school but i tried one math SAT sample test, i sucked! :frowning: oh well, hopefully when i am in hs and take the SAT for real i’ll do well.

I wanna take GMATs in my high school year

I just took the SAT, and I’m in 7th grade. I got a total score of 1630.

critical reading: 590
math: 520
writing: 520

I think this qualifies me for both math and writing courses, barely. I’m not very smart :frowning: - I feel like if I go to CTY, even if I do qualify, I’m be one of the dumbest kids there and nobody will like me.

Harrietsun, I will like you!
Your test scores are very good! I’m sure you’re smart. i mean, look around you, how many 7graders can do as well as you did?

Same here!!

Come to CTY! I got the minimum score requirements and 7th grade and felt right at the middle of the pack intellectually (some were WAYYYY above me and some seemed below me).

I just took it today. It was an extra hour for some reason. I had a headache but all better. I tried to wing the Verbal section on the SAT. I think I have a pretty good score in math and writing. However I’m just in 7th grade.

I don’t know what I got yet- I’m aiming for CTY summer camp requirements. AAAAACK! Too nerve-racking! feb. 11 can’t come soon enough- if today was, right now, though that would be good.
sorry about typos- my computer’s going bazonkers.

I dont beleive I qualify for the CTY Program :(.
I take practice tests of the SAT in math and I get 650 my lowest and 720 my highest.
I am 13 years old and 14 in 2 months. My middle school goes up to integrated algebra and its too easy for me though. Also on the CR I get 620-690. On Writing I can forget about it since I am pretty sure it’s like in the 400’s. Will CTY Let me in if I get 700 in math and 650 in CR and 500 and below in writing if I am a minority student?

Cramps3 the required scores are posted on the CTY website. They also have 2 levels, CAA and CTY I think. My DD qualified for the lower one the first time taking the test. She took the test again the next year and qualified for the higer level. We haven’t taken any of the courses yet as they are costly so we are looking at courses that offer college credit.
Why don’t you just take the next real SAT or ACT? You can wonder all day long but you wont know till you do it.

good luck

You will undoubtedly qualify for CTY! They only look at each section. Your math score would qualify you for all math and science courses and your CR score would qualify you for all humanities courses. Your scores are superb for an 8th grader! I scored, iirc, 530CR and 550M. Essentially I met the bare minimum requirements.

I’m currently in 7th grade and took the SAT a month ago…
CR: 630
M: 710
W: 720
Total: 2060
I’m going to the Johns Hopkins CTY summer thing, but maybe Duke or Davidsons…idrk.
My dad is kind of mad at me, because now he can’t brag to our other Asian friends, since I think there’s one kid who got better than me.
