8 total APs enough?
I was doing some rearranging with my schedule. Is 8 total APs enough? My APs with exam scores are as follows:
AP US Gov and Pol-5
AP US History-5
AP Chem-5
AP Eng Lang-5
For senior year:
AP Calc BC
AP Stats
AP Physics C
AP Bio

The rest, while technically not designated as honors, are honors-equivalent. In my school’s course description, it mentions “Due to the rigorous curriculum of the X school, no classes are designated as honors.” Does this imply that the rest of my school’s non-AP academic classes are like those of honors classes?

I also have about a 3.93ish GPA and a 2240 SAT (800 M, 730 CR, 710 W)

They are not looking for APs so much as the most rigorous courses your school offers. For many schools, these courses are AP courses. However, some schools, even some very good schools, have no APs (Scarsdale is an example) or fewer APs and designate the most challenging courses using another name. At my school, we were generally not allowed into APs until junior year, and even then we were only allowed into certain ones.

I agree with Poeme…as long as you take the most rigorous courses available to you, then you’re fine. For example, I only took 5 AP classes (out of the 5 available at my HS). Then I supplemented that by taking two college courses and one Stanford EPGY class.

It really depends on how you’ve challenged yourself. I took 8 APs by the end of Junior year. I had a total of 13 APs by the time I graduated.

But if your school only offers limited courses, take the most out of them. I also emphasize that the quality of score is more than important than quantity too!
