<p>Most of them are in the field of Chemistry, biochemistry and bio-related sciences. This is very interesting…Just curious as to why Madeson ranking in bio sciences is not higher than it is? I know Madison STEM Cell research is at the top of the field.</p>
<p>It is ranked very high in biosciences. Biochemistry is 5th. Microbiology is 3. Genetics is 7th.</p>
<p>Another consideration- longevity in the field. Although the 4 from Chemistry postdate my undergrad years at UW (from my lack of name recognition) they did work over many years before the biologists could do theirs (dna work recognized for one chemist per UW news article- I still remember part of my honors physical chem lab work with a grad student centrifuging it). It takes time to garner this type of membership.</p>
<p>Speaking of UW chemistry, they are great! Bob West is my hero…So is Chuck Casey.</p>
