My question is, how does my application or background look in general? I am being talked to as a prospect recruit for football, is that a plus? What are the biggest pros and the biggest cons? My essays have been revised by college English professors as well as high school English teachers and i feel very good about them. I am scheduling an interview with the college which i feel confident about also, but mostly due to my low class rank/GPA and first SAT scores i am leery about my chances. How does it look and what can i do to make it better?

Any information to help please?

The upward trend in your SATs (and that outstanding math score on the second one); absolutely top-notch ECs (perhaps the best I’ve seen on CC); I think you’re all set! That GPA could prove an issue when applying to Cornell, but if you come across well in you’re interviews you’ll be set. The others, you should be in with no problems!

As long as you wanted any other info, Purdue also has big-time football, ROTC, and strong acoustic engineering programs. Have you considered them?

Good luck on your app, and please chance me back! http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1118399-chance-theatre-acting-inclined-junior-ill-chance-you-back-4.html

You’re a lock for everywhere except Texas and Cornell. It’s tough to get into Texas as an out-of-state student and tough to get into Cornell in general because it’s Cornell. Don’t worry about your SAT – I don’t know specifically what each school does, but they will either only use the best score, or they will look at the best scores you got in different categories between tests. Talk to your counselor about it. I’m surprised he/she hasn’t made that clear, to be honest.

Your GPA is what should really concern you for Cornell. Without football, I’d say almost no chance. But football is the wildcard. No idea how it will factor in. If you’re being looked at seriously by some of the D-1 school on your list, I can’t believe that Cornell wouldn’t want you for football.

And, also, god damn are those ECs crazy. Can you give me like a quarter of them to use on my resumee? lol

Thank you for the info, both were helpful in gauging what my current possibilities are. And StrangeBro, i have looked at Purdue intently, it’s a great university but simply do to some personal preferences it’s not on my top list, i am still considering applying though. And fdeb35, I’ve received letters of interest for football from some, but not all of the institutions i listed. The ones that do inquire more information are Cornell, Montana State, Washington State, and Oregon State (Others include Holy Cross, UofMinnesota, and Wyoming). and some more information, I’ve practice been taking practice ACT test and consitently getting 32,33,31… is that better then the SAT score?

I’m not sure of the exact correlation between ACT and SAT scores, but I do recall hearing that a 31 is roughly equal to a 2070-- then I went out and scored higher on my actual SAT so I didn’t give it a second thought. I’m sure the conversion chart is floating around online, but given as your SAT high score is a 2100, a 32 or 33 would be roughly equal to or just above that mark. Good luck when you do take it!

Also, just for a lark, I looked up the Montana high school state champions over the last few years and noticed only one two-time champ. You therefore must be at Custer County District High, yeah?

No, we did not win the state championship, i was honored with all-state recognition for offense and defense, those are my two awards. sorry if it wasn’t clear enough. We had an average team overall, made it to first round playoffs one year, didn’t make it the other years.
