800 Writing and C- essay on the same day?!?

Well today I got my SAT scores back and I got an 800 on writing. Do you think that someone has ever gotten that and an english essay graded as a C- on the same day? Have I accomplished a first?

I think your English Essay had to be a polished one; the SAT essay is only a draft
an 800 on Writing could have an essay score anywhere from 9 to 12 :P

SAT Writing =/= class writing.

I’m not really sure I know what that means. (=/=)

Does not equal :stuck_out_tongue:

If you asked my college professors, they’d tell you I’m one of their top writers. But I only got a 7 essay and a 680 total W score. Certainly I’m going to retake, but when practicing for the writing section I won’t be working on my “writing skills,” I’ll just be working on my SAT writing ;)

Yes, I suppose. When I woke up today I thought my writing score would have gone down from my previous score (680), so I tried to comfort myself before I checked my score that the SAT writing really doesn’t test actual aptitude, only the grammar rules you’ve memorized in school. And that definitely is true. Although I am obviously happy with my 800, I really don’t think writing tests anything that colleges should care about. By the way, I wrote that essay on my email while I was visiting a college in about 35 minutes. Why? I don’t know. But normally I am a pretty good writer.

Lol, that’s exactly why. It took you 35 minutes.
Unless you are comparing AP English Comp’s analytical essay, it’s not comparable

Even if it took you 35 minutes to write it, a good writer would be able to formulate up something that deserves better than a C-

so essentially you are saying I am a bad writer/ you don’t like the writing SATs and have a grudge against them

-You can think what you like. I’m only stating the facts :]
-I love the writing, I got a 12 :]
-I don’t have a grudge against them

OK sorry. I just don’t like being insulted by people I don’t really know. If I can get an 11 in about 20 minutes, then I would say I am a good speed writer. My english teacher just came here this year from teaching all IB level courses at an extremely prestigious private school and so grades to the same level at my less than great public school. Anyways we’re good and this thread should just about die now.
