How in the world do people justify the humongous price tag for an ivy league education? Is it really worth it or not? My parents are convinced that it’s not, and I’m still not sure. Neither of my parents graduated from college, so not only is the experience new to me, it’s also new to them. Any help would be appreciated.

Ivy League colleges are no more expensive than other private colleges in the Northeast – they’re all hugely expensive! But one thing that’s different is that Ivy League colleges are RICH, which means they can afford to give out generous financial aid to help offset their steep tuition bills.

The question of whether an Ivy League education is “worth it” is beyond my ability to answer, because there are so many variables. I’m sure someone on this board has the details about a study done a couple of years ago that found that, if you’re smart enough to get into an Ivy League school, you do well in life whether you go to one or not – because you’re smart, after all.
