I personally thought some sections were easier than ones I have taken in past ACTs. The first prompt from the reading section was from The Namesake, and since I’m Indian, the passage flowed really well. haha. Anyways, what did you guys think?

English and Math were harder.
The other two were easier.
than the previous ones.

^ Agreed. It was my first and prolly last time, and I thought English n math were harder than practices. I hope English curve is lenient, pleeease.

I’m always pressed for time on practice ACTs (though I could only motivate myself to take one…) and the case was no different on the real thing.

What bugs me the most is the science section. They have an inordinate amount of text and data and I can not seem to stop myself from pondering implications of certain things presented, critiquing the conclusions made by “students”, admiring any particularly interesting or new (to me) concepts presented, and so on. And then I end up spending WAAAAY too much time on those things. This, of course, would be of little consequence on something like an AP exam or (even more meticulous) an exam by one of my teachers because much of these conclusions/details/ponderings are called upon by the questions on the exams. However, the ACT seems to love asking the most trivial questions ever. Such as identifying whether the slope of a line on a graph is positive or negative (a question they manage to ask with no less than 100 words).

I just can’t seem to approach the Science test like I’m “supposed” to (or at least I suppose I should approach it). This especially bugs me as I’m generally quite fond of science.

In any case, let’s see… the English and Math seemed pretty straightforward actually. That is, disregarding the time constraint which blind sided me far too often, I thought the difficulty of the questions themselves wasn’t too bad at all. Though there was one Math question regarding… I don’t actually remember what it was regarding… I thought I remembered it quite well but it’s not coming to me at the moment. Well regardless I ended up spending a good five minutes running in circles with a Math problem I thought was pretty hard before I finally figured it out.

In the reading test, I also took notice to the first reading passage. I’m not familiar with The Namesake, so I didn’t know the source, but I found the discussion of “family friends”, get-togethers, approaches to Christmas, and listening to a Cab driver speak in Bengali all to be quite amusing. I am from Bangladesh and a good bit of it sounded familiar. Didn’t help all too much with answering the questions to be honest, but the questions are generally pretty straightforward for the ACT.

I’ve heard the science curve is supposed to be quite brutal. Is that true? I really would rather not retake this… or, rather, I don’t think I’ll have the opportunity to do so. Oh well.

Lol everyone is saying it was harder? I thought the whole test was wayy easier than my last 1.

English was super easy and Science was super easy. Math had more advanced problems than expected and Reading was easy.

I think I missed 0 in English and 1 in both Science and Reading. I missed at least 2 in math, sadly, because of dumb mistakes.

Yea i thought the math section was much harder. I usually get 34-36 on math and i think i got a 32-33 on this one. It was different.

I felt the english and math were easy, the reading was the usual, but the science was difficult towards the end.

^ What science section did you think was hard? The sound one, or the gene one?

I don’t remember the orders; the gene one was so-so. My science section was structured with the 3 5 question ones first, and then the remaining 6/7 question ones afterwords (although I am discontent with the fact that there wasn’t an arguing passage). The first 5/7 experiments were simple, but the last 2/7 were pretty difficult. I couldn’t comprehend what was going on. Maybe because I felt pressed for time, or wasn’t focused.

Science was killer. That’s all. Reading and English and Math (Good Surprise) were amazing! And the essay wasn’t half bad. What’s the maximum pointage on it? I’m excited to see my score. I just hope science didn’t absolutely kill me :/

I agree with russiaruns123. I thought math was easier this time. Science always kills me though. Essay max is 12.

Overall, it was easier in my opinion. I thought the math was pretty straight forward, except I might have gotten one wrong for a silly mistake (totally forgot the formula rules for circles). Science was WAY easier this time. The English is always easy, so this was no different. The Reading was overall pretty simple, though I might have missed one in there as well.

It was alright, but one of the reading passage I didn’t get for a while, and I almost didn’t finish that section because I kept rereading it to make sure.

For me, I felt that it was not that much different than taking the SAT, except time-wise–I hated it. I prefer SAT on that.
English and math I felt were much easier than those on the SAT, but science just killed me. Essay wasn’t that complicated.

If I were to choose between taking the SAT or ACT, I’d really have to go with SAT.

Math always kills me, but I really wasn’t expecting that much trig on it. It’s been a year since I’ve taken trig. ugh. I’m on my knees begging for at least a 30 in the math section. I feel good about the others. Hope I didn’t make any stupid mistakes.

I just about died on the Math section. I just could not remember trig for the life of me. I had read one of the books in the Reading section, which was a pleasant bonus! Science…seemed easier than before(watch me miss them all). English was the same as usual. Maybe easier.
