I have had to call the police/paramedics several times in my life. it has always been very urgent and I was worried how long it would take for them to answer and the competency of the 911 operator who can literally hold the speed at which help is dispatched and accuracy of the police/fire/paramedics getting to the correct location. over the years I have read about nasty, rude and incompetent 911 operators but this lady should have not stayed under the radar for this long. this is not someone from the cable or phone company who answers to set up service calls.

I just called the admissions department at University of Houston with a few questions. While the person that “helped” me won’t be charged with any crimes, she certainly was not interested in talking to people. Maybe its a Houston thing?
Something is wrong with the oversight of such an important function if this went on so long. Some heads should be rolling further up the food chain.
With 911 and emergency responses the departments are supposed to track calls and see how long it takes the operator to get help to the person or otherwise handle it. Make me wonder, could the department have some stupid kind of performance tracking where 911 operators are given high marks for resolving calls quickly ie typically resolved a call in 5 mins or less? If so, would give them incentive to hang up, which might register as a ‘completed call’ to the tracking system (kind of like the fake accounts at Wells Fargo). Then again, it could also be an ugly person with no sense of duty or anything else, too.
I would say she is off. Even if she was trying to game the system people’s lives and or property where lost injuries worsened and mental anguish extended. She would have to be a sociopath if what you said was to actually be carried out.
Actually I think no matter the cause for her behavior she is a sociopath and she really did not care . If I was the judge and her defense attorney tried that spin I would not take kindly to that. Anyway she just got misdemeanor charges. She should face felony charges.how much damage she did is probably unfathomable.
@zobroward:
I agree totally, I wasn’t trying to explain her behavior or god forbid, defend her, for someone to do what she did, whether she was just lazy and didn’t want to be bothered or to try and make it look like she was a star, you are right, you would need to be a messed up person.
I liked (not) her response when she hung up on people- I just didn’t feel like talking to people. huh?
Hope she never has an emergency. Well, then again… karma…
^Well, no. Cuz she would very likely be calling for someone else.
Calling for someone else?
Often someone calls 911 cuz someone else is in distress, family member, etc.
