9th/10th semester?

Hi,

I’m planning to double major, and I need a few extra semesters. I have heard of double major students taking a 9th semester to finish. But, how common is it for students to take 10th semester, and what is the process? Thanks!

Ben

You can’t stay for a 10th semester if you get over 136 units

Sorry, I did not clearly state that I am in the College of Engineering. Does anybody have information on the policies of COE?

Thanks anyways.

It’s worse in CoE. You still will not ever get a 10th semester, and you aren’t even guaranteed to get the 9th if you intend to double major.

do you really want a 9th or 10th semester given the fee hikes?

If you’re planning on pursuing another engineering degree, the policies and procedures are given here: [Dual Majors - UC Berkeley College of Engineering](http://coe.berkeley.edu/students/current-undergraduates/degree-options/dual-majors.html)

If you’re considering a major in another college, consider this: http://coe.berkeley.edu/students/current-undergraduates/degree-options/simultaneous-degrees.html</a></p>

Unfortunately, from my understanding of it, you needed to declare your intention to double major by your sophomore year…

Yes, I want an extra semester even with the fee hikes. Last time I checked, the tuition at Berkeley is less than half the price of its private counterparts, many of whom rank lower than Berkeley in engineering. I believe that this personal investment in my education will help me financially in the long run.
