Study Plan after Enrollment

Why I choose Social Sciences?

I choose to acquire a degree in Social Sciences because it covers a broad range of disciplines that attribute to society, giving learners understanding of individuals and the world. With this knowledge, I intend to raise the younger generations’ political and social awareness.

The desire to study sociology reflects the influence that my educational experience has had on me thus far. Wanting access to international literature, I have seriously taken up learning foreign languages since nine years old. Through learning English, Chinese and Japanese, I have formed an interest in multinational cultures and communities. However, experiencing a science biased education in favor of examinations during twelve years schooling gives me little chance to explore the subjects. This disparity in education causes indifference to problems faced by the world. As of 2013, only 31% people from 18-24 in my country follow international political and social news with the majority lays their concerns in more personal problems such as employment, etc. I believe only if we care about the world will the world care about us. Therefore, I desire to follow Social Sciences with an aim to become a worldly aware individual so that I can bring both international and domestic issues to the youth’s attention.

Another specific matter I want to explore is the alarming condition of human rights in ABC, especially now that we are running for seat in the United Nations Human Rights Council. Also as one born of working class family, it is extremely crucial for me to understand the international system that protects people, especially the workers so that I can spread knowledge of this concern in my country. Through interdisciplinary study of a Social Sciences degree I will be better able to think critically and look at this issue from multiple perspectives, which is a skill of growing importance in this age of interdependence.

A foundation in Social Sciences will help me develop not only critical thinking skills but also a critical perspective on the world, arming me with vital knowledge to achieve my goals.

Why I choose THIS University?

My primary reasons for seeking admission to THIS are to access one of the best Social Sciences courses the nation has to offer and to relish the experience of studying in XYZ at one of the most international student-friendly university.

What sets THIS University apart from other universitiesis that you offer a Social Sciences curriculum that integrates many disciplines in the field. There are only a limited number of universities in this program offering Social Sciences courses and those that do, only limit to two specific majors: laws and economics. THIS University incorporates a diverse course of many disciplines, and also allows me two semesters to explore my choices before deciding to apply myself to whichever field that interests me. As the result, I can take time to examine my interests, eventually decide to pursue further education and obtain a Master’s degree on whichever topic I find intriguing.

In addition to excellent academic prospect, THIS University promises exciting campus life. When I hear that at THIS University, classes are cancelled in October for festivals, I know that I will not miss the chance to show off my culinary skills, make friends with domestic students and relish Japanese culture. Additionally, THIS is known as one of the most foreigner friendly city in XYZ, making it a great place for a fresh start.

I choose to study in XYZ because it is a country I have grown to love through exposure to its literature and culture while studying the language, thus is the place I want to know more about. In addition to my personal interest in XYZ stemming from months of reading AUTHOR’S novels, studying XYZ is my top choice because the country offers many opportunities for international students. In many developed countries, tuition fees are higher for international students, limiting the chances for those who come from developing countries to achieve their dreams. However, THIS University supports overseas students with low school fees, many scholarships and financial aids.

I am looking forward to THIS University as the beginning of a new phase in my life in which I top my educational experiences with one that appeases my intellectual thirst and is truly rewarding in nature.

Who I want to be?

In the last two years, I have developed a profound professional emergence toward teaching. I believe teachers have the ability to not only change but also improve the world.

Many of the great teachers that I have had throughout my education have become my role models. My head teacher in high school remains the largest influence shaping my character. She helped me discover my inner leadership when she encouraged me to run for class presidency. Until now, I have always turned to her whenever I tripped over troubles, both academically and personally.

Also being an English tutor has taught me the joy of sharing knowledge with others when I saw one of my students light up after I sweated with her for two hours on the dreaded English participles. After I managed to convince her to follow her dream choice instead of choosing a university that her parents selected, I finally realized how teachers could bring influence to youngsters by being intellectual and passionate.

With the knowledge about the world that I gain in THIS University, I hope to prove to my future students that the surest way to self-protect is to understand the society, knowing their rights and responsibilities. In ABC, Civics is considered an unimportant subject compared to other subjects such as Math, Physics, Chemistry, etc. I believe this is the cause to the lack of discipline and moral decline in my country, for example messy traffic and corruption in government. A degree in Social Sciences from a university of THISstatue will help me attain my goals: integrate more emphasis on human growth in education and raise the youth’s attention to political and social issues.

A teacher contributes to a better world by fueling youngsters with passion for life and thirst for intellect so they can stop dreaming about a beautiful world and start to beautify it by their own hands.
