A 16 year old as a Junior in Cornell?

I’m 16 and enrolled in a California Community College full time (I graduated High School early.) These are my stats:

Major: Biochemistry
GPA: 3.80
EC: Internship with the Government (80 hours), Internship with a lab (80 hours), Paid internship with Private Company (150 hours), Volunteering at a hospital, Captain of School Swim Team (although I’m not good enough to be recruited), 3 A.A degrees, Group Tutoring Leader, Founded a Club.
Glowing letters of recommendation.
What are my chances of getting in?
I have not had time to study for (and complete) the SAT, and am worried that this will jeopardize my chances of getting in.

…Not sure what the rush is. Take the SAT. 3 AA degrees & graduated early, jeez.

It’s hard to say what your chances are without seeing your standardized test scores. There have been some young students at Cornell, so age alone will not be a problem. My daughter and someone else in her Freshman dorm started at age 16 and I believe there is someone now much younger (but living with his parents). I would suggest taking your standardized tests and applying as a freshman (try to get some credit for some of your college courses like people do for AP classes) because part of the college experience is social, and that usually begins in the dorms. If you were to start as a junior, you would be put in upper classman dorms, and those are generally not as social as the Freshman dorms. And since you are coming from California you may not know anyone there. Plus, 3 years there can go by really fast. You may want the full college experience. Just my 2 cents.

You have a decent chance, and age will not be a factor. My freshman year at Cornell, I was classmates with a 12-year-old. However, not taking the SAT might raise some questionable eyebrows in admissions. I agree with everyone else here that you might want to slow down, really think about putting in a good application and prepare yourself for the years to come.

If you’ve completed 12 credits of college coursework after high school graduation, you have to apply as a transfer
