a+bi mode for math level 2 test?

Sup peeps. I have a quick question on the math level 2 test. I have a ti84 and I was wondering whether I should leave it on a+bi mode the entire time. My barrons book says that “You should use a+bi mode exclusively for the Level 2 test.” Does this mean I should always use a+bi mode during the test? Or just for specific problems? Thanks!

Keep it on the entire test. It actually doesn’t matter in my opinion: there are a select few problems that involve imaginary numbers. Using it won’t hurt you; if b=0 then calculator will only output the real number (it won’t say 5 + 0i).

Yes, definitely. I wish I had known that when I took the test - I swear 75 percent of the questions involved holomorphic functions. And that last one about conformal mappings, oh boy…

…Nah, probably not. The problems involving i are far and few between, and they’re pretty simple algebraically.
