She found the dress in the attics where it had remained undamaged by water, bats, rats, or Hamish. Presumably it had belonged to Myles’ mother. Maybe he didn’t want her to wear it because he felt weird wanting to sleep with someone wearing Mom’s dress?
Or he thought she shouldn’t be wearing anything. Nothing comes between me and my kilt!
