A couple questions about how it all works with classes

Probably stupid questions, but here it goes.

1.) Do most people take three to four 5-unit classes per quarter?
2.) Would it be okay to take–in your first semester of freshman year–3 Arts GE’s? Or do you have to spread it out among categories at all?

Most people take three to four classes, usually a mix of 4-5 unit classes. Most take approximately 16 units/quarter

Why would you take 3 Arts GE’s. Look at the GE requirements. I don’t think you even need three arts requirements.

1.) Okay, gotcha!
2.) I’m taking about “Foundations of Arts and Humanties” GE’s when I say that. You need one from each subgroup, so that’s what I meant. Would it be okay to get all of those three done in one quarter?

It would be ok to get them all done, but it may not be the best idea. If you think they’ll be easy you might want to spread them out a bit so you don’t end up having to take a bunch of hard classes at the same time. If you think they’ll be an annoyance, it won’t be a fun quarter. There’s also the possibility that you’ll switch majors and some of those new classes would fill a GE req that you’ve already done (= waste of time).

You generally want to have a balanced schedule, unless it’s unavoidable (and that won’t be the case your very first quarter).

Well, I’m fine with all the categories except the science ones. Those make me a little nervous (and since I’m in session 106, I know I won’t get to enroll in the easiest ones for those…), so I thought I should at least wait until 2nd quarter to take any science classes. :)
