A D in a non-required course.

In my first semester of senior year, I got a D in a non required course (which was AP Stats for me) since I had already met the 3 year requirement for math category in the A-G requirements. The rest of my grades for that semester consisted of 4 As (2 of which were AP Classes) and 1 B (which was also an AP class). I already got accepted into CSULB which is the school I want to go to and I was told by my counselor that they would not take my acceptance away since I had already met the requirements. I just want a second opinion on this and I want to know if they are going to take my acceptance away.

I would verify with CSULB admissions. Although you have met the CSU requirements, all CSU’s will provisionally admit you until final transcripts are sent. Did CSULB spell out your requirements to maintain your admission? Each CSU can determine their provisional admission requirements but the rule of thumb is to pass all a-g courses Senior year with a C- or higher. Nothing against your counselor but I would verify now so you will not get any surprises after your final transcript is reviewed when you may not have any options.

Good Luck.

I was going to message them soon before I no longer have a choice to go to any college. My Junior year was when I met all the requirements for math since I only needed 3 years and this year would make it 4. Would it still matter since I technically didn’t have to take it?

It does not matter that you technically did not need to take the class, but you did so it is up to you to do well in all your classes Senior year, which is why colleges provisionally admit applicants.

CSULB is an impacted campus meaning there are more qualified applicants than spots available. Most schools do not like to rescind accepted students, but there is always a chance that since there are so many well qualified applicants waiting to hear from the waitlist, you could be “found to be ineligible after the final transcript has been evaluated”. I personally would rather play it safe and confirm with CSULB.

I do know that Cal Poly SLO and SDSU have specific requirements to maintain your provisional admission and they have rescinded applicants for not meeting these requirements.
