A day in the life of Social Distancing

Caught up on emails
Made food for later.
Went for longish (40 mi) bike ride and walk
Cleaned up
Organized paperwork
Completed IT work and made further progress on conversion project
Started certification training (first of 10 … may take awhile) and studying
Thought a lot about my life and changes I would like to make. Thanked the creator that my elderly relatives are all OK.
Tried to keep busy so I would not become morose.
Enjoyed the quiet.

Did my husband’s laundry.

Biked in basement for 30 minutes.

Texted back and forth with my mom.

Walked big dog because it rained and little dog doesn’t like to get her feet wet.

Going to finish watching new season of Grace and Frankie.

My cousin and I finished our TV streaming list of shows.

If anyone is interested I can post the list here. I’m sure most of the shows are somewhere on the Binge Thread but someone might like a list that’s all on one post.

Had an extra cup of coffee
Did yoga and my PT (at home)
Cleaned all the dishes the kids leave around during the “third shift”
Messed around online
Picked up a pizza for kids for lunch; felt anxious at the lack of cars on the roads
Played Monopoly with kids, where we all got beat fantastically by my D
Debated taking my daily walk even though it was very rainy and my dog hates rain (didn’t go)
Gave up on nagging son to apply to internships/summer jobs, seems futile right now
Checked in on phone with some friends
Read
Watched a bunch of Survivor with the family
Talked about some worries with my DH; then tried to remain grateful for our situation which overall is good. Also felt grateful that my kids are all home and didn’t fight about coming home (even though they are also driving me a little nutty)
Bed

Today is better: Got to take the walk and started prep work for interior painting

Thank you, @garland , and all teachers everywhere for putting work into the online courses! Especially as schedules are STILL changing.

@LTmomof2 , we were just a couple days saved from having the “car stuck at college airport” situation. I’m sure that you will hit the maximum or “lost ticket” amount. No great ideas on how to get the car to you! Leave it there until your kid has to move out? I would hope that the lot would be understanding about things like this. It’s not like they are going to need the room with flights so down.

I had a long conversation with my S last night; he finally sees the logic in coming home, he’ll be back, as planned, this weekend - that made me feel a bit better

Today - go up, had coffee and played on computer for 30m then walked to local bakery and bought bread for my family, in-laws and employees. Came home, before DH emerged from bedroom and I made breakfast for the two of us.

After that, I got on the computer and played games with a group of IRL friends for a couple of hours; it’s the first time I’ve ever done that, I felt like a teen boy with X-Box!

Now I’m walking back to the bakery - those Linzer cookies looked to good to ignore!

@TS0104
We prepaid the parking (and then extended it through April 4th because Baylor originally said school would start again after an extended spring break). So to add insult to injury we have now overpaid!

A friend of a friend whom we have never met has been kind enough to go to the airport and retrieve her car. I just fedex’d the keys and parking receipt.

It may be a month or more before campus reopens. Two faculty were diagnosed yesterday.

The kindness of strangers amid this crisis restores my faith in humanity!

Need to reorganize the garage so we can get both cars in there since two of the neighbors reported attempted car break ins last night :frowning:

I did sketch out my plan for the reorg of the basement but I need a second pair of hands and H had to work all day and never got the break he expected. Maybe tomorrow or Saturday.

Our D has been hanging more with the dog. Yesterday she kept him in her room all afternoon. Said he was good therapy.

I’m getting out once day to walk the dog and get exercise but the rainy weather isn’t helping.

Are any of you all working from home? I was hoping that by working remotely I’d get a chance to catch up on some things around the house, decluttering etc since I’d eliminate commute time (and, let’s face it, half of my getting ready time since I’m just in sweats with no makeup!)

But work has been non stop putting out fires and dealing its strategy. I guess since my organization is in the education field and we are trying to get kids fed and technology in their hands, there are a lot of moving parts.

DH and I have gone on a 2 mile walk every afternoon which is a huge benefit and something I really enjoy. I’m so glad we are headed into spring. I don’t know if I could get thru a quarantine if we were headed into November!

Finally finished our taxes.
Taking it easy since I’ve had a sore throat since Sat - not getting worse, no other symptoms.
Wished I’d taken a walk today - will try to get out tomorrow.
Feel better after talking to 29yo S yesterday who is, in fact, social distancing, working from home, and only going out to get takeout (or so he says).

@surfcity - My H is technically on vacation this week. He hasn’t left his home office all day. Had calls even through lunch. Everything he planned on getting done this week has been tabled because he’s been glued to his home desk. The logistics of this is a nightmare. His company has been designated as “essential” and they are working on how to protect their staff while keeping plants open.

I’m working from home and 80% of my work right now deals with the virus and its impact on our company and our employees. It’s been rough and stressful. And no real end in sight.

worked a 24 hour shift in urban densely populated area. Picked up dinner at regular Cuban restaurant we frequent. Place is usually packed but now limited to take out only. Left a $50 tip

Thankful I have secure job.

Yes working from home but things are quiet so not feeling very productive. Once people settle in, I think we will get more done.

Watching too much tv in the evening but enjoying the family time. I think we all need it after trying to scatter and be productive during the day in different rooms.

I’m working from home and have been swamped all week! Powered down just before 6 and already have a lot to do tomorrow.

Other things I did today:

Streamed my Sunrise Yoga class at 6:30. Was already up for awhile for coffee and newspaper. I’m trying to stick to a regular routine as much as possible.

I had to run into the office for about an hour today. First time I had been out of my neighborhood since Saturday! It occurred to me that it was the first time since Saturday I had been in a car. Or worn makeup (for the 5 people who were in the office, haha).

We ate dinner out on the deck since it was nice outside and then went for a walk.

I had book group tonight virtually via zoom. It was great, everybody was so happy to socialize and see each other!

Got take out pizza really cheap (they had a 50% off coupon to drum up business).

Did some needlework this evening. Last few days have been so busy. Finally realized I’d have to make time. Felt very soothing.

Also ordered more supplies from a shop local to one of my kids that we went to last visit out there. Nothing local to where I live, which is probably why husband and I can still afford to live indoors.

Went to the post office when it opened. Fortunately our post office has a large, cavernous space so the 4-5 of us on line could appropriately social distance. The clerks wore gloves. I used hand sanitizer as soon as I left, drove home, and washed my hands.

DH and I went for a 2 mile walk before it starts raining here. I always feel better after getting out.

I’ll write some cards to people who expressed condolences when my mother died last month.

I have to start researching medigap and Part D plans. Not exactly a fun activity.

Sending Dh and S19 off to Ohio to move out of dorm. Really not happy about this as they’ll have to stay in a hotel overnight and eat out several times.
Little S and I are staying put. It’s a gorgeous day (over 80 degrees and EVERYTHING!! is blooming), so maybe he will go for a walk w/ me.
Other than that, not much. Maybe work on Little S’s charade skills b/c wow he’s bad!! LOL

Husband still going into work at his VA. He’s taking in his own coffee to keep from sharing among office mates (the shared carafe handle alone, ugh). Taking in his own lunches because the cafeteria staff is elderly and frail-looking and he wants to give them one less person to deal with. There are X marks on the floor six feet apart to help space people in line.

Fewer people out today when I went to walk the dog. People were crossing the street to avoid crossing paths on the side walk.

H still going to work too. I know today he was doing FEMA stuff.

I just ordered a bidet. Should be here April 7th.

Hopefully either my plumber or one of my contractors plumber can install it.

H is handy for that too, if he has the time.

I’m still in my jams but have laundry in and going to get dressed in a bit and take big dog, even though it’s drizzling.

The. I’ll do my yoga and watch something on Netflix or AP.
