"A Decision has been Rendered"

Saw that another person had another thread like this…

But, what exactly does this mean? I have come across definitions such as an “already made a decision” or “denied”.

I’m a non-Florida resident, have a 3.8 GPA, and made a 21 on the ACT. I’m not too much of a good tester, but I noticed that they said that they used " Sliding scales" for people with high GPAS and low test scores or vice versa. I applied on Decemeber 24th btw.

Has anyone received the rendered message but still got accepted?

I’m feeling really worried and frustrated that I might get denied… I thought that academics played a vital role towards their admissions process…

A friend of mines from Florida said that he knew a couple of people who got this message and were denied admission…but this was b/c their gpa was low.

Yea that is awkward USF notifying you like that and leaving you hanging until you get a letter in mail with admission decision. Hope you get good news; if you’re not admitted, move on and dig in somewhere else. Best of luck!

I am sorry to say, but this is their polite “denial” notice, I confirmed it with their admissions office. It’s a blanket “denial” statement. I checked your stats on their admissions matrix, and you are on the bad side of their scale, and being out of state doesn’t help. However, a couple things to note:

1: Assuming you applied to Tampa, you might get offered admission into their St. Pete campus.
2: You can appeal. If you can explain well enough why your test scores are low, and other hindering factors, you can write an appeal letter. The denial letter will give you more info on what to write about, but it’s not a waste of time: It worked for me. I was the person who created the other “decision rendered” thread, and I appealed and they un-denied me.

I hope so too…it was kinda my top choice school that I wanted to go to. I’m thankful that I got accepted into a few other ones though. Guess I’m just gonna have to wait and find out then…

Okay, I see what your saying…does seem like I am on the bad side but the minimum requirements were met.My dad also called the admissions office and they said that was the way of “surprising” the applicant and that’s what they do for the majority of the applicants…so that’s weird.I’m just gonna wait and find out then I guess…

If you don’t mind me asking, what were your GPA and test scores? I’m glad to see that you were able to appeal and that it was a success for you.

At time of denial:
2.82 GPA and 1830 SAT.

At time of appeal:
2.95 GPA and 1930 SAT.

I just checked Oasis and noticed this response as well. A friend of mine said he got this response and still got in although I’m seeing everyone on this board that got it was denied. I graduated from college in 1997 and was applying to USF for my second bachelors in Spanish. I guess I’ll just wait until that letter arrives in the mail. I was hoping to find someone on here that got that response and still got accepted.

Lynne, when did you apply?

Mid February
