A different kind of chancing

Hello all, I am doing this jsut to get some peace of mind, since I dont think I applied to the right batch of schools. I was doing it based solely on location, pretty much. So I am asking you guys to please suggest schools I should have applied to, with respect to my profile and what I am looking for. Please just put down what would have been reaches/matches/safeties, and what schools I would have had a shot of getting into if I had applied ED/EA. I have a younger cousin with pretty much the exact same profile as I do, so I am trying to get him to learn from my mistakes [ I have sort of taken him under my wing throughout hs]

Also, we are both affirmative action cases, so being hispanic is the reason I think we have shots at great schools
For what I am looking for: Planning to go into business, so a strong business program is a MUST. I would be applying to the business program/school at all of these colleges. Thats basically it. I dont care where it is, I jsut want a good education. active student body would be great, and also, good post graduate connections would be great. As for the stats…

I would suggest that you look into UCLA and UCB, both of which are excellent and as an instate applicant you would be competitive for.

I would also recommend that you look into the lower ivies, as your URM status and good stats make you competitive. Look at Cornell :)

I would also recommend that you look into some private LACs. What kind of school are you interested in? You might be competitive for Pomona (a reach school, but they meet 100% of demonstrated need).

I would say pick 3 reaches, 3 matches, and 2 safeties. This would be my list if I were you:

Cornell

Pomona

UCB

USC

UCLA

UCSD

UCR

UCD or UCI

That way if you get into the top schools on your list you will have great financial aid and a great education, and if not you will still receive an affordable, wonderful education at a Californian school :)

thanks smart cookie!
I am not really looking into LAC’s, im a big nameless research kind of guy. Shallow, I know. lol. I will pass this all on. anyone else?
