A disproportionate number of Disney World's visitors are Asian-American

A disproportionate number of Disney World’s visitors are Asian-American. I have a hypothesis as to why this phenomenon occurs.

Most Asian visitors to Disney World are young, 2nd generation married couples with small children. The women walk around with Louis Vuitton handbags and the men tend to be more fashionable than their white counterparts. I would imagine that they are upper-middle to upper class [success brought forth from the traditional Asian work ethic] and have many white friends at home.

They go to Disney World instead of more foreign, exotic vacation spots because Disney World is an all-American destination. Seeming as assimiliated as possible to their white friends at home is their goal.

Opinions?

Where did you get this data?

From being at Disney World.

I doubt it.I think a lot of them are 1st generation (those who haven’t been too socialized yet). For some reason a lot of chinese and japanese like it. It seems to attract A LOT of asian foreign visitors

Then how do you know you didn’t come on an especially Asian day?

I remember when I went to Disney World my mom was the only Asian for miles and miles.

Maybe I went on an especially Asian day. It was December 27th.

Scarlet, the ones I saw–and heard–were fluent in English and wore really Americanized clothing, as mentioned in post #1.

There were many foreign visitors from everywhere, but I’m just talking about Asian-Americans.

are you asian mj93?

a lot of asian immigants are fluent in english. esp some japanese.

why does it matter?

no, it was just because it was my birthday.

this should also be directed at this thread.

asians tend to go out for holidays while americans stay home with family.

That’s probably a good theory (about most asian americans being better off). I don’t know if I agree about them being more fashionable though.

Disney LAND is very hispanic from what I remember. MmmmMmmm LA.

how do you know they are american? Many of the asians I ran into at Disney World had strong accents and spoke broken english, which leads me to believe they were just visiting.

The ones I heard didn’t have Asian accents.
