A Dream Deferred

What happens to a dream deferred?

Does it dry up
like a raisin in the sun?
Or fester like a sore--
And then run?
Does it stink like rotten meat?
Or crust and sugar over--
like a syrupy sweet?

Maybe it just sags
like a heavy load.

Or does it explode?

...know who wrote this? Guess without searching on Google.

I remember reading that in my 9th grade english class. Can't remember who wrote it though.

Langston Hughes?

google's book search oughta do the trick..

It's Hughes.

google's book search oughta do the trick..

Hehe... clearly cheating ;-)

Booya grandma!

definitely langston hughes. I remember reading it.

It's also the main focal point and poem to "A raisin in the sun" or something like that.

okay - I think someone here needs to write a poem
"A Dream Accepted EA"

hey good idea...maybe you should after you get accepted.

ha. this seems to be a common poem for EA people.

Have you ever read the Bradbury play? Very enticing plot...

Definitely Langston Hughes! A Dream Deferred is one of the few poems I actually like (I'm not a real poetry person).
