A few Questions about the UC's

I was checking out the admissions rubric into UC Davis at: http://why.ucdavis.edu/admissions/froshAppCritSelProc.cfm

Can any of you tell me :

 1. How they calculate UC Gpa, since I heard it was only soph + Junior year
 2. What is eligibility in the Local Context (ELC)
 3. What is number of “a-g” courses beyond 35
4. How do they determine Individual Initiative?
 5. And finally, what is participation in EOP

Thanks for taking the time to anwser my n00b questions!

ELC is awarded to the top 5% of students in each high school. IF you receive information requesting your acceptance to ELC, than definately accept it. It will give you basically 1000 SAT pts for UCD, and 625 SAT pts for UCSD (625sat ptsx0.8 = 500pts awarded).

The number of semesters that you take from 9th - 12th grade that meet the approved a-g course list. 40 or more will usually give you more pts.

Individual Initiative is given for high performance on SAT test in a school which ranks in the bottom quartile or quintile of all schools in SAT performance.

EOP is a program for economically challenge and academically gifted students. You have to apply to be received into the EOP. If you don’t know what it is, you probably aren’t in it.

go find the eligible courses for your school http://www.ucop.edu/doorways/ , use those classes to calculate your gpa (from soph/jr yr). with a maximum of 8 honors/ap points points (4 semesters)

top 4% of your class. higher admit rates to UC’s.

3) http://www.ucop.edu/doorways/ , it should say there the requirements, then if you took more classes than requirements, you took more classes
