a good sat studying schedule?

Hey guys.

I took my SAT June 7 and I will receive my scores this Thursday. I am taking it again Oct 11 and want at least 2000. Can someone give a good and realistic SAT study schedule? I WILL do what it takes to get a 2000. Oh and I’ll post my score once I receive it! I REALLY NEED SCHOLARSHIPS. My parents are threatening to send me to community college and not even help pay for it. Btw, I am hoping to attend University of Houston.

what do you get on your SATs currently?

Currently, I am only doing sections from the SAT practice tests but I got a 1650 on my junior PSAT. Based on that, the college quickstart thing said the highest I could get would be an 1860.

Well, if you reach your goal of 2000 from the June SAT there’s no reason for you to take it again in October. However, if you don’t get 2000 you should probably adapt a study schedule of doing one section from each (CR, M, W) each day as the test gets closer. I don’t think there’s any reason for you to be in studying overdrive all summer. Of course, you SHOULD study vocabulary as much as you can now because that is hard to learn in a time crunch. And you should be studying in general while you have the time. Also, I suggest writing practice essays as often as possible, preferably at least once a week, just so that you can more easily spit out words because time is a real issue on the essay section.

I don’t know what your breakdown is, but a good thing to do would be to focus on your weakest section, especially if its score is really far below your scores for the other two sections. A 2000 SAT is above the University of Houston’s 75th percentile, so you should have a good chance with such a score. Good luck!

@pumpkinpatch35 Thank you for the advice! Getting into UH isn’t a problem, getting scholarships is what I need. Do you know anything about their scholarship chances?

@music202‌ They do have a scholarship for people in the top 10% in their graduating class, if you are in the top 10%. It looks like you have to be in-state (which it sounds like you are) to be considered for any scholarships. There is an academic excellence scholarship which seems attainable for you (the example they gave was 1200 SAT for math and critical reading). There are also a bunch of college-specific scholarships depending what you want to major in.

@pumpkinpatch35 Yes. I actually do know about the academic excellence but that does range from 800-8500 per yr. Most of my friends have actually gotten that scholarship. Do you currently attend Uh?
