A good thing to question everything?

^ simply put, that’s my question.

I’ve grown up in a household where my parents have always told me to “question everything and everyone.” In all honesty, it gets to be a bother, so I just take things as they are sometimes.

What about you? Do you take things as they are, or do you have the tendency to question and doubt a lot of things first?

I tend to take things as they are.

And I would hate it if I were to talk to someone who questions everything and everyone and asks me “why?” if I told them things about me, like my interests. I don’t want to questioned for simply liking what I like. D:

There’s a moderation point. Personally, I find it irritating how lax people are in regards to questions. We are much too passive of a society and I think it is royally biting us in the butt. That being said, it gets tiring to not take things as they come sometimes.

My parents also taught me to question everything. My mom comes from a Gypsy family and Gypsies tend to be distrustful of everything and everyone (ok, they do have a legitimate reason to be…) but she developed a healthy level of distrust. My father tends to be a bit distrustful and question things to the point of near paranoia. I am someone who will question a lot of things (which is partially why I’m growing to dislike my major- anthropology) and I tend to have a very open mind. I am a naturally very curious person and it will bug me if I don’t know the answer to something- even something trivial. Phones with internet have been a wonderful addition to my life :).
