A Grim Reality

I got a 2070 on the May SAT. Ever since then, I’ve been preparing to get a 2300+ on the SATs. I just took a practice test today. I did worse than the May test, with only a 2050. What the *? How can this be? I’ve felt so much more confident about the SAT since May, but now I feel like *. All that work for no results…

Take a deep breath… Don’t freak out, if you truly are prepared you have to remember that the SAT is also a mental game. If you psych yourself out, and start to lose you’re cool, chances are you’re not going to do well. Relax, and be confident.

It takes an immense amount of effort to improve from the 2000’s to the 2300’s. It’s just not as easy as going from 1800-2100 for example.

But as the user above suggested, you need to stay cool. Don’t freak out because you got 20 points lower. The test involves a tinge of luck, you know? If you’re cool that day, confident that you’ve done your best, no matter what the result is, chances are you’ll probably score high. If you don’t, then what can you do? You did the best you could, you studied as hard as you can, and did as many practice tests as you could without dropping dead, and aboveall, you were calm during the exam. What else could you do for a higher grade? And that’s where luck comes into play.

I agree with all the above posts. Take a break for a week. Sleep well. I just slept for the longest time in months, and I took a PSAT, and I decimated it. My concentration levels were through the roof.

I had taken a PSAT before I slept for that solid 10-11 hours, and I pretty much failed. I got extremely frustrated at “hard” problems, and that didn’t help.
