<p>People across the country have come together to support the birthday wish of a young girl who was involved in a fatal accident.</p>

The number of donations on Rachel Beckwith’s fundraising page has climbed to 8,988, amounting to more than $360,000.
More than $350,800 has been contributed to “mycharity: water” by Tuesday night to honor Rachel Beckwith, the 9-year-old fatally injured in a 13-vehicle accident on Interstate 90 in Bellevue a week ago.

<p>I saw this profiled on NBC News tonight … the fund is over $600,000 now! When I saw the piece, I was really moved. </p>

<p>I do believe that every life has a purpose, and I couldn’t help but think that perhaps Rachel’s purpose was to help raise awareness and funds for this project … and her life did accomplish this purpose. It is very sad that she is gone, but she lives on in a very real way. I hope this helps to comfort her parents.</p>

On July 3rd while returning from an annual family road trip in Colorado back to their home in Houston, Texas the Berry Family found themselves to be victims of a horrific and tragic fatal car accident. Their Minivan carrying parents Joshua and Robin Berry and their children Peter age 9, Aaron age 8, and Willa age 6 was hit head on by another vehicle who had crossed into their lane of traffic. The parents Joshua and Robin Berry were tragically killed leaving their 3 children behind. While the children did survive the crash, both boys sustained serious spinal cord injuries and they are both paralyzed below the waist. The children are currently being treated for their many injuries in a Houston, Texas area hospital. </p>

<p>There is a significant urgent need to raise funds to aid these now orphaned children’s ongoing needs, including medical rehabilitation, physical therapy, psychological support and education.

What a tragedy</p>

<p>jym, an update on the story of the Berry children: Their care is expected to cost between 5-10 million dollars. The boys were recently transferred to Shriner’s in Chicago. The children’s aunt and uncle are currently their legal guardian.
