A life too short.

Where did she get so compassionate?
She was only nine- but she made a difference.
Very inspirational.

People across the country have come together to support the birthday wish of a young girl who was involved in a fatal accident.

I saw this profiled on NBC News tonight … the fund is over $600,000 now! When I saw the piece, I was really moved.

I do believe that every life has a purpose, and I couldn’t help but think that perhaps Rachel’s purpose was to help raise awareness and funds for this project … and her life did accomplish this purpose. It is very sad that she is gone, but she lives on in a very real way. I hope this helps to comfort her parents.

I do not mean to hijack this thread, but while we are on the subject of raising money after a horrific accident, read about this family.

What a tragedy

Oh :(. Thanks for sharing this.

jym, an update on the story of the Berry children: Their care is expected to cost between 5-10 million dollars. The boys were recently transferred to Shriner’s in Chicago. The children’s aunt and uncle are currently their legal guardian. If anyone is interested in following their story or donating, they have a Facebook page (Joshua and Robin Berry Children’s Trust).

Rachel sounded like quite an incredible little girl. How wonderful that her birthday wish has been fulfilled and her wishes has inspired others to give.

The sad part is that Rachel’s family needs financial assistance with their hospital and other bills…

Thanks, aggiering. The link I posted [Show Your Hearts](http://www.showyourhearts.org/) also goes to the site to make donations, and the story about the family. Both stories are so tragic
