This is wonderful and tragic all at the same time…but thought it might be helpful. This young man went to BW…

Stunning and oh so sad.
Ditto.
Wow, what a voice! It’s so sad. He would have had such a brilliant career. But I’m glad that at least that he DID have that amazing experience of performing his dream role on Broadway, and making history by doing so. He was truly “living the dream” when he died.
On a totally different note…watching that video, it’s encouraging to know that he was cast on Broadway from that audition based on his amazing talent, even though the video didn’t follow all the technical “rules” of video auditions. He wasn’t performing in front of a blank background with no distractions; in the first video, there were large windows with bright light which could be visually distracting, and even once or twice a car horn was heard outside, and in the second video, the accompanist was shown in the video with him, instead of offscreen. But his TALENT was the important thing, and that’s why he was cast.
I just find that encouraging, because I know that as parents, we often obsess over little minor details and doing everything exactly “right,” and worrying that some minor mistake or broken “rule” will totally destroy our kid’s chances. (The wrong audition outfit, an overdone song, etc.) So it’s good to know that while of course you want to get everything as perfect as you can, ultimately, talent really IS the most important thing.
^^I would not assume it was a video audition. I assumed (but could be wrong), it was a video taken of his audition in the casting room.
^ That’s what it looks like to me as well.
That was most definitely a casting room in NYC …looks like a Ripley Grier room to me
Oh, good observation! I didn’t even think of that! Okay, never mind that point of mine then!
