A male agreeing that rap videos demoralize women

If you tell them you are a conservative, then they will know for a fact that you are NOT gay, and also a christian.

eva, this is a homework for my class, but I also have to say it in front of my class on a podium. Would that make any difference??

I know I should just do whatever myself dictates me to do, but I’m still not sure. Also, would I be taking it over the top if I stated that “I’m a conservative and a christian” humorously before I make the speech? Would people understand where I’m approaching?

Probably the only reason that people on this forum think that saying this speech is the “manly” thing to do is because these are CCers. I don’t think everybody in my class is going to be sensitive or intelligent enough to understand the issue as well as people on CC.

powerbomb,

Oh I just thought you’re going to be an activist on this, so for your safety you wouldn’t want to do that. (ack silly me). But ok, homework, I don’t see any problem with it. You’re standing up for women. woot woot.

wait… it WOULD be a silly thing to do? I’m confused… so should I make the speech or not…geezz… maybe I should pick another topic…

anybody have an idea for a Persuasive speech topic??

Any emcee not named Immortal Technique is likely to be trash these days (especially lil wayne, the worst rapper alive)…and tech doesn’t even do music videos lol

k1man are you for real? you are like the ying to godsends yang. Same person perhaps? Alternate personality?

I am just your average religious patriotic American who promotes a healthy American through the way of Conversitism.

Liberals = Socialists = Communists

Liberals in a capitalist nation = criminals = sinners

You made my night. Please join the real world at some point.

Lol… no offense but this thread has digressed into some conversation about conservatism and religion… any ideas on the OP???

The showcase of women in rap videos is only an extension of the popular view of females… there’s a more underlying culprit.

This demoralization has happened throughout history. It’s nothing new.

Women have to take blame for this as well. They don’t have to buy sexy clothing. If they have the body and are going out for a night out and have a choice between a big church dress or a designer dress… what do you thing they’ll pick?

powerbomb, i think that’d be a very manly thing to do to stand up for women. any insecure guy can call ppl gay, but only a real man could do what you’re suggesting ^^

Or, risking being called a “sexist/racist” by everyone and not standing up for anyone’s rights (passive indifference). That takes REAL courage.

“Conservatives are terrorists to our freedom.”

Conservatives are the ones defending our second Amendment rights. Obama and Clinton all are against our second amendment rights to have guns to defend ourselves from a police state.

Hitler, Stalin, Mao, Pol-Pot, and Kim Jung Il all support gun control. Democrats, especially those from California support gun control. Is it a surprise that Illinois and New York also have strict gun control laws?

Being gay doesn’t make you any less of a man either, FYI. :D

Anyways, rap videos don’t demoralize women. And if these women feel demoralized, well, they did it to themselves. So, yeah, do it if you want. If you’re not gay I doubt anyone will assume you are. They may make little jokes about it, but unless you are, in fact, gay no one will really think you are. Don’t be so self concious. WHO GIVES a F C U K ?!?!?

For the most part, rap music sucks. I’m not talking about the style and the lack of instrumentation, that’s a different debate, but the lyrics.

Some rappers like Eminem and Tupac had real issues to talk about like politics or living conditions in the ghetto. Nowadays, rappers just rap about women, being gangster, cars, their grills, and their shoes.

For example, Soulja boy’s song sounds a lot like OOOOOOOO UUUUUUUUUU OOOOOOOO UUUUUUU UUUUUUUU UUUUUUUUU OOOOOO UUUUUUU Supaman. He probably tried to repeat the alphabet but all he knew were those two letters.

no, they just dont want your ugly redneck kids to go on shooting rampages.

I killed OP’s similar thread with this post:

Objectify: No, rap videos do not objectify all women. They might objectify the people, male or female, who are dancing like sex objects in the video. But it’s human nature to like sex. So the people in the video are just trying to appeal to humans and boost ratings.

Demoralize: This depends on your morals. Do the videos sometimes influence underage people to have sex? They probably contribute. But so do a lot of other things, like hormones. Should we argue whether those objectify women? Haha. Idea: remove all testosterone from males at birth. That’s a fool-proof way to stop the demoralization and objectification of women. =/

That kind of rhetoric is so overdone. ^_^

I would contend that this whole protectionist mentality is ultimately more sexist. Women are quite capable of choosing whether or not they want to be in rap videos, pornography, etc.

I think that this topic would make a great speech. Except you started this post over a week ago so you’ve probably already made your decision by now… haha.
