Hello everyone, so I have something of a dilema on my hands. I’m planning to sumbit my NU app by tonight but I wasn’t sure if I should send in my Sat ii’s scores as it is not required, and my scores are medicocre.
Lit: 690
US history: 710
So what does everyone suggest? anyone had this situation before? did anyone get accepted with scores like these? or lower?
my overall stats seem to show that NU is a slight reach so i don’t want to risk it…
Thanks everyone.

“planning to sumbit my NU app by tonight”…ya rite ;)

im thinking u shouldn’t send them. it mite actually hurt u in the admissions process. i don’t think NU would like to see average scores, being a selective university. idk…im only guessing. good luck!

Are these scores higher than your SATs?

I never took the sat’s. I’m from illinois so I only did act with writing. here’s my stats
ACT: 32
Rank: 14/660
AP: 4 euro
5 us
2 chem
extracurriculars: ok, nothing special. mostly in chess team.
essays are b/w good to ok.
rec letter should be good.

i say don’t send the subject tests. ur ACT is decent so just go with that. but i’m also guessing too.

hmmmm honestly the us history sat2 looks not so great, since you got a 5 on APUSH. the lit isn’t TERRIBLE. it is average, but it’s good enough to send, in my humble opinion, if you aren’t applying as a journalism/english major. really it boils down to what you want to do. don’t send the us history sat2 though.

I took the test in October, so about 5 months after teh ap test so i forgot a lot of stuff. and I’m gonna double major Psych and econ.
so do you guys think it will hurt my chances? or no affect?

No affect.

what’s your GPA like? You have a pretty average, maybe even sub-par application in my opinion, those scores will only add to that.

GPA 4.4 weighted
3.7-8 unweighted.

I wouldn’t send them in. They’re kinda “blah”, and by no means do you need a SAT II scores - I got in ED without them or the SAT I. Polish up your essays and focus on making your resume look good (as in what you’ve done, not the formatting)…I think the SAT II’s might just leave them uninspired more than help.

What is it with those SAT2’s? My son a 4 and a 5 on the US and World History AP’s, and 700 and 680 on the US and Euro SAT2’s. The AP US - SAT2 US and AP World and SAT@ Euro were all taken within a month of each other. I guess they get more prep for the AP, but it seems like there should be more correlation.

On this note, what’s considered a “good” SAT II score? I sent in both of my 750s (math II and chem), but now I’m not sure if that was a good idea or not. I did get a really good SAT I superscore (2360) and 5’s on the corresponding APs, so I’m thinking these stats should outweigh the average SAT IIs - but will they?

Don’t worry, your 750’s should be fine. Now if they were 650’s I’d be a little worried.

The 750’s are fine - think about it, that’s essentially a 1500 “raw score” if those were portions of the SAT I. Not a perfect way to look at it, as they are obviously separate, but if you got 750’s on the SAT that’d be a good score. So, I’d say you were good to send in those scores with your application.
