A Meta-thread to save us all time

Thank you. I’m taking a driving break and will be without internet connection for an hour and 1/2 so I expect an answer by the time I get back.

Bye for now!

Binx, my daughter is finishing her third year at another college known to harbor the unconventional. But, yes, she liked Reed a lot.

Out to lunch, Greydad? Or gone fishin’?

Calamari is one of mathson’s little brother’s favorite foods. He likes the onion ring form. (LOL!) But the way he liked it best was a diablo where it came with the tentacle parts and not just the rings. binx’s poem, otoh could describe dh and mathson. The weirder something sounds on the menu the more likely he is to try it - jellyfish, calves, cheeks, eel, snails, testicles - no problem. Me, I like to taste what he orders, but I do like some assurance I’m going to like what I’m ordering.

The tentacles taste better than the “onion rings”; they’re tenderer. Just don’t look.

Is there some basic issue with the turkey sandwich? What gives with the grossy foods?

Gross foods are icky
especially if they’re sticky.
Don’t feed to Lil Nicky
cause he’s pretty picky.

What path are we on??

My youngest was so gifted linguistically that he called spicy foods “spikey.”

Isn’t that more wonderful than anything your kid has ever said? OTOH, whatever yours said will be Good Enough, I’m sure.

Good enough!

Well, my son, once asked for FREE cookies, instead of three. His genius was obvious even as a toddler.

I was just reading my son’s 2nd grade journal for school in which he described an ice cream social as “a festival of ice cream.” Sweet on so many levels!

I just want to add that I’m sure one of my children is going to make it into the Advertising Hall of Fame based on some of these little ditties:

“Mom, when are we going to Viagra Falls?” (The second half of that question is unprintable, even in cyber space. It had to do with whether his father would be accompanying us to Viagra Falls.)

“Mom, if GE can bring things to life, why aren’t they in the bible?”

“Mom, don’t we need more people in the Army than one?”

And so all we have to do (pathway-wise) is connect the dots between what our kids say and the available resources.

For example, I’m sure by now Fencersmom knows that her kids’ early insight into Viagara Falls predisposes him to a pharmaceutical career; the “bring things to life” argues for Vanderbilt Divinity School, and the “Army/one” quip immediately qualifies him for a ROTC scholarship.

We just have to all think harder. The kids are telling us what they need.

Connecting the dots through poetry…THAT’s a challenge!

I am no linguist (unlike paying3’s child), but it seems to me that pathway and pathology, psychopath and pathetic are all of similar root word (and as homeschoolers, my kids did the entire “Wordly Wise” program, so I should KNOW). Is there a psychologist/psychiatrist onboard here?

Back from phishing.

(A sideline that I have to dupe unsuspecting and naive people into letting me have as much money as I can get. Since no one knows who I am, I can talk about it. Oops! Hardly anyone knows! Sometimes my wife checks in here! Just kidding, dear!)

Grey, she’s on to your shenanigans, buster. You’re on the tab for dinner tonight.

path from the Greek “pathos” meaning sickness. hmmmmmmmm

My son made up his own vocabulary.

“Look Mommy a hoo-house.”
“That’s called a firestation dear.”
“Well *I *call it a hoo-house.”

I’m sure he’s destined for greatness. Or at least one of the Ivy’s.

Ivy=greatness=wealth=happiness

I’m sure you knew that already. Your son, while on the linguistic pathway to righteousness and freedom, cannot possibly compete with MY son, who was potty-trained by age 5.

Did I say my S was a linguist? No, I meant he ate linguini. I got mixed up (backpedaling furiously, fearing an audit of his application)

Grey, you are SO busted.

JHS, what did you mean by “harbor”? Was that a fish reference to calamari?

Or mine. Who wasn’t. (Just kidding S.)

My son was toilet trained by eight weeks. It was a miracle. He is in the Guiness Book of World Record.

Now he attends Deep Springs and will MOST CERTAINLY transfer to the Ivy of his choice.
