MOWC, stick whatever you want in the front yard and call it a Hoosier, and don’t let anyone tell you differently. No one can prove what a Hoosier is/is not.

Harriet, are you dressing the younger sibs in sweaters bearing the older sib’s college name, or are you dressing them in the colleges that the younger sibs aspire to? You could line them up in a row: H, Y, and P. Then you could save the picture, and send it in with their college apps at the appropriate time: “See, little Johnny has wanted to go to Y since he was 11 years old!”

(PS the 3.9 comment was in the spirit of the thread. GPA’s stated in the Meta-thread may bear no resemblance to real-world GPA’s. YMMV).

Ooohhh, college-themed front lawn decor! MOWC, quick, you gotta patent or at least trademark some of your ideas. How could I not think of that? A lawn figurine of Santa arriving in a sleigh pulled by a bunch of purple and gold Dawgs and blue lights on my house (since that child’s school has no mascot). Nowadays, a simple bumper sticker would not be adequate to display your child’s accomplishments.

I’m thinking about starting a business of selling ornaments decorated with the artwork, poems and perfect transcripts of our precious little ones ;)

Excellent idea, BunsenBurner! I’d just LOVE to do my whole tree in transcripts and report cards! With flashing lights indicating the most significant ones.

This certainly does fit in nicely with some of the earlier prestige/business ideas. Why just have a Perfect U Car, when you can make your whole HOUSE say “Perfect U” - in sparkly holiday lights? How about those huge, inflatable snow-globe type lawn decorations, with the Perfect U seal inside?

Now this is what I call the spirit of . . . um, something. Something on the Right Path.

"I had thought of spelling out DS’s college’s name in the lights, but technical difficulties prevented that. So I just put up his GPA instead. 3.9 is a little embarrassing, but it reminds the unwashed masses that we are not THAT far above them after all. "

Was that 3.9 college GPA weighted or unweighted? I must know, now.

College GPAs are always unweighted. Goodness, what sort of slacker are you implying DS is? harrumph…

Hey Violadad, what’s the holdup with your D’s Holiday CD? Could it be that Druid Priestesses don’t celebrate Christmas? Maybe it’s a Winter Soltice Celebration CD instead?

I don’t know. Maybe he’s related to that nice Gregory Peck? Didn’t he play someone named Atticus? or was that Gattica? Maybe it was Battlestar Gallactica.

cottonwood513, I think the correct question to ask is “Whose attic?” Isn’t the subject called attic Greek because it equips the student to earn enough to live in a garret? :)

Don’t you mean “antique Greek aka Ancient Greek?” That’s what Ch. de Gaulle used in his speech to modern Greeks in 1964. I’m reliably told none of them understood what he said.
There are worse things than living in an attic. Nowadays, they have skylights, cathedral ceilings…
Beware Greeks bearing gifts.

Just dropped off an exam care package: bags of Chex mix, hot cocoa, coke in cans, two dorm decor pillows, three fun books and a roll of t.p. Some unexpected fun.

I know there are some out there, cottonwood. NOT that any Right Pather needs luck, but . . . good luck to all.

Over on the 09 thread someone brought up an extremely suitable Right Path idea recently: The Faux Facebook/Mother Theresa Myspace idea. Create a new persona for your child, showcasing only Grandma-suitable photographs and wall comments of the highest intellectual nature. Create and populate groups relating to selfless EC interests, and be sure to add congratulatory posts now and then.

I actually took a photo of my D with her grandparents yesterday, that should definitely be in her photos.

I think profile pics should include the RPS (Right Path Student) holding some sort of trophy, ribbon or award - or should I say trophy, ribbon AND award. The more the better.

Their “about me” should say something about being too humble to list all of their many accomplishments, but then manage to talk about them anyway. "I won’t bore you with my awards and leadership positions, but my passions include tutoring the less fortunate, spending time in the lab researching the properties of string-together-some-long-impressive-chemistry-term-here, and organizing the regional chapter of worthy-charity. I guess you could say I’m a Community Organizer. Also, I love being the starting midfielder on our state championship soccer team! (Leave out the part about the state championship being in 4th grade and only 3 other teams came to the tournament due to the hurricane.)

Their quotes should be from Aristotle, Shakespeare, and Kirkegaard.

Any photos should be cropped so that RPS is front and center, with perfect hair, skin and teeth. Surrounding sycophants can be tolerated only if they are gazing on RPS with suitably adoring expressions.

Special care should be taken in photos that no college names appear on sweatshirts, hats, etc. Heaven forbid a H admissions rep should see an RPS student wearying Y hat!

Potential pitfall here - how do we keep admissions from accidentally stumbling across the RPS’s REAL Facebook page?

Pizzagirl, this is a simple, elegant solution. Brava.

Now, any suggestions for M and F names that manage to suggest just the right combination of Legacy/URM/First Generation/Platinum Circle Donor/intellectual/athletic traits?

Keep in mind that people with 3 last names are more likely to become CEOs of companies or college presidents (I am not making this up.)

So, a name like Logan Carter Griffin sounds like a winner. If you want to include the athlete angle, you could use Houshmanzadeh or Roethligsberger for the middle name if a boy, and Joyner or Comaneci for a girl.

Edit: If the above solution doesn’t pay enough attention to 1st generation/URM attributes, may I suggest Ashvin (boy) or Raditha (girl) for a first name? And Kennedy is probably a better last name.

Hyphenation is also a way to get more than 3 names in there.
