A Meta-thread to save us all time

one more thing: I can’t find anywhere on the internet what standardized test is required for the Nobel prize. Help? Thanks :)

pizzagirl: cc only allowed me 5 octuplets. I think that was because of some sort of TOS not because they thought I was an inadequate parent :)

IMPORTANT EDIT:
pizzagirl BTW: I am not sure you are even allowed to just pop into the middle of a thread and post if you haven’t read the whole thread.
YMMV

You are making my day here. I too want an update on the didgeridoo player and others. (Note I am just trying to up my post count too. )

Aha, alh! I did! I posted on the thread way back when, after garland’s inspiration! I like to think I’m a legacy to my very own self.

Is that kind of like a legend in one’s own mind. ;)

All I wanted was a couple of the Iditarod dogs. I’m still waiting.

alh adopted the LAST five octoplets. I have one and two other CCers each have one.

My octuplet is outperforming my kid on the couch, something I did not anticipate.

cottonwood513 - I’m intrigued. More to share?

Unlike some of you, I am trying for the lowest possible post count for a long time member. So I have a question: Do posts only count on the parent forum and not on the parent cafe? So if I never post again on the parent forum, I will never reach 500 posts? I am already kind of embarrassed for myself in advance for when my kids have to clean up the computer after I die and see how much I posted on CC. (my DH is no problem because - unbelievable as it may seem to the general public- he is even less techy than me [or than I?] {please take a minute and correct my grammar} and will just have to throw the computer away and hope there is nothing on it important that may end up in the wrong hands) The real problem is I can’t actually figure out how to post on any other websites. Could someone please offer advice? Do all of you post on other websites? If so, I can only assume you are really really gifted, not just ordinarily bright. Or even average. Or below the norm like me :(

I like to think I have a whole lot of recessive genes
:):):):)

You have heard of that new element added to the Periodic Table?

Yup, my octuplet.

awesome! But what about a noble prize???

I have decided to never go above posts: 411

Even if parent forum begs and begs…

if you want to know how much space you have in the edit bar - look up there^^^

you’re welcom:)

2nd Nobel Prize, you mean? We haven’t heard yet.

ESP as a hook?

I knew you were going to say that…

Could also be a money maker - I would have paid someone big time to “show me the envelope” before go-time!

Maybe they went to Carnac-y Mellon

Speaking of dogs, here is one of the ECs the my octuplet dreamed up. We’ve all heard of listening ear dogs that go into schools to give students extra read aloud opportunity, right? And companion dogs in nursing homes? Plus, firehouses have Dalmatian mascots, maybe not so much anymore.

Octie has trained two dogs that combine these functions. The firemen have them at night and then bring them to two schools after homeroom. The dogs spend school hours listening to students read, one on one. We get them after school. Octie plays with them, feeds them, brushes them and walks them down to the nursing home, the residents love them. A fireman picks them back up around eleven pm. Weekends they are at the nursing home and school holidays they are at the firehouse.

These dogs are neutered, but Octie is thinking longer term of developing a breed. Maybe using Basenji (nearly barkless) and English Cocker for traits and size. Borzoi for ability to loll around and listen to kids read. You get the idea.

cottonwood, when Octie breeds these puppies, what obedience school will they attend? What is your plan to find matches and safeties? I’m sure they’ll be such perfect pooches that there won’t be any such thing as a reach for them - all the top schools will simply be matches.

Then, of course, there’s my sweet kitty, who we home-schooled. The trainers in town just didn’t recognize that her clawing and howling were merely expressions of her boredom at their lessons which, sadly, didn’t keep up with her honors-level intelligence.

I never thought I would stumble upon another thread that I would enjoy as much as my usual one. I may need to take a couple of sick days soon to read this whole thing. Epic CC.

Fortunately those of us with merely wonderful pets can take comfort in that old CC adage: “love the dog on the couch”.

Ya know, vballmom, that outlook made sense back in more robust economic times, but now you need to consider how your dog will eventually become a working dog. Even if it doesn’t eventually herd sheep or work with the police, it must do something, or it may end up becoming a lap dog.
