At first Jordan Culbreath seems like an average Princeton student. In high school he excelled in math and science. He played football, basketball, and baseball.

However his story is so inspiring that a movie has been made detailing his Princeton experience. Jordan Culbreath was not a recruited athlete. He walked on to the Princeton football team. He excelled rushing for over 1,200 yards in one season and was named to the all Ivy football team. He gained 276 yards in the last game of his junior year. He was elected captain of the football team and expected to lead the Tigers on the field. However, in his senior year he developed an illness that made him seriously ill. His life may have been saved by a sprained ankle during the second football game of the season. A hard tackle might have killed him. He was diagnosed with a very rare disease, aplastic anemia. He underwent a new treatment at the National Institutes of Health.
The year after he nearly died he was back on the field playing football again. He was determined to return to football even though he had to continue treatment for his aplastic anemia.
While the physicians were trying to prevent him from dying his concern was that by being in the hospital he could not support his mechanical engineering thesis buddy. Jordan Culbreath is the type of student at Princeton that continues to make me proud of the university and the quality of students that attend the university.
