A new scam? or did I just win 2.5M?

Has anyone heard of this? I just got a call that I won grand prize for Target/W. I am suppose to purchase a green.dot money card from Walgreen/CVS for $495, not to give to them, but for claim # on card.

Anyone who calls you unsolicited on the phone and wants you to spend $495 on anything has to be working a scam.

Anyone asking you for money in order to claim a prize is a scam dealing.

We got onto some kind of phone list that is being sold. Every week we get calls about the prizes we have won. If it sounds to good to be true… But obviously it works on some people or they’d not keep at it.

I hope you are asking tongue in cheek (difficult to tell in cyberspace).

Definitely a scam. Any random call you get that requires you to spend money to claim a prine for something you never entered into in the first place screams SCAM.

I am guessing that giving them the claim # from this greendot card would enable them to somehow claim/transfer the cash from the card.

You guys are so right. I had to go grocery shopping anyway, so topped by CVS. The manager there told me he’s gotten calls to put $500 on 4 of these cards, and “Corporate exec” would pick them up soon.

My very sweet s/o came to my house, just in case they dropped by (they had my address, etc.)

Of course I knew it had to be a scam, but would have been heavenly to have extra money.

Especially two and a half million extra!

bookworm - I hope you called the police so they could stop by CVS to arrest the people picking up the cards.

Oh yes, it’s real. And they have given me the money to hold for you. Of course there will be costs you must pay up-front so I can transfer the money from my account in Nigeria to you in the United States. Send me $1000 to an anonymous person Western Union, and I will gladly send you your money. Congratulations!

Kajon, I’m embarrassed to say that I never thought of notifying the police. I doubt the manager of CVS thought of setting a trap. I gues it would be prudent to let police know. Thanks for suggestion.
