A non-resident chances

When I say non-resident I mean not living in the state of Georgia. I live in Tennessee. Since I don’t know anyone who has applied to GA Tech, I don’t know how hard it is for a non-resident to get in. I know with UIUC with non-residents the average SAT and ACT jumps a ton and its very competitive and hard.

Anyways anyone know which of the two is harder to get into to UIUC or GA Tech? or just in general how hard for a non-residents? I also plan on doing engineering which should also make it worse. Thanks.

GT does not consider major in admissions, so applying as engineering does not affect you.

It’s hard to measure things like the jump from resident to non-resident and comparing two school’s non-resident admission difficulty. Since that data isn’t published, any comment by its nature will be an opinion. But, from what I’ve seen based on the last few years of posts on this site is that in-state and out-of-state are not that different for Tech, and I normally see more “Admitted to UIUC, Rejected to GT” than “Admitted to GT, Rejected to UIUC”. Though the schools are very comparable academically.

I figured since I’ve been trying to look up non-resident stats for the two schools for a while now. But thanks I think I have a better idea of my chances.

Neither Georgia nor Georgia Tech is preferential with regard to residency in the admissions process.
