A place for folks having stimulus check issues to vent and compare notes

Per an article in AARP, the IRS is using the address on the SS recipients’ 1099 benefit statements.

@bluebayou does that mean the direct deposit place…or the “address”. I have a 1099 from SS, and my mailing address is on it, but not my direct deposit info.

I’m not expecting them to direct deposit any stimulus if I get it…because my SS is in my name only…and our taxes are joint.

sry, I was unclear. The IRS is/will be using the direct deposit info on file from the SS, or 1099 mailing address for those that still only receive physical checks.

Well, I was hoping to see a deposit today because of the Tuesday rumor, but nope. Dang it.

My mother got her check with the first waive of IRS/DD people. I know it was based off her 2018 taxes because she did not file this year, and she received $1200 for my dead father too. He died in 2018 and she filed that one last joint return. Before that year, he’d file taxes and use his bank account for the return.

The check was put into her account, which is also used for her SS check. His SS check went to a different account (closed now).

Her check was definitely from her joint return for 2018, no other way she would have received $2400.

I’m hoping to hear if there will be more money deposited tomorrow. I heard the next wave will be 4/22

@thumper1 , I do not know a single person out of a data base of about 300 (regally 600 but I’ve only gotten response from half) who are getting social security direct deposit only and not filed taxes who have gotten a stimulus payment. According to our sources, SSA info has not yet been integrated with the IRS stimulus payment system yet though the process is underway. So it’s a true mystery how your friend got the deposit.

Im seeing a lot of agonized people who paid their tax prep through their refunds but did give DD info for the refund. It appears those stimulus payments have been delayed though they should not have been. Hoping this large group of people get their money with this next wave and not through the prolonged paper check process.

About half of my family getting stimulus money. Most entitled to it under current terms have gotten it. One son who owed both years, has not as of yet, though he gave the IRS his bank info. 2019 college grad is a bit bummed that he won’t be getting one as he has been furloughed and does need money. That he may get a tax credit for the amount for 2020 is not at all helpful right now.

@cptofthehouse, I thought that the position your son is in, is exactly the people who need to enter their bank information to receive their stimulus check.

We are in that position, I added my direct deposit information and am hopeful that we will see our money in the bank tomorrow.

Wouldn’t the 2019 grad if he had worked 1/2 of the year after graduation, be eligible for the stimulus check? I know that was the position my niece was in and she received her check.

Still no joy for me as far as either the IRS site or money in the bank. I’m not in desperate need of the money but would like to see it safely in the bank. I hate the idea of waiting for a paper check when it should be easy to give them DD info (we do have SS directly deposited so hoping that really is going to be shared with the IRS)

Anyone see the $2000 a month for 6 months proposal being bandied around? Hard to imagine that becoming reality?

It would depend on the filing status for 2019. A student who graduated in June might now qualify as a dependent any more (there is a limit on the income of about $4000), so should have filed as an independent.

There are a few congressmen suggesting this. I don’t think it will happen.

In Stimulus package #4, Pelosi put in a provision to forgive $10k in student loans for each ‘person’ (no definition of who would get this). That would really help both of my kids but I’m not counting on it.

If you had to pay with your return the IRS is not using that bank information to send your stimulus money. From their FAQ page: “The account information used to make an electronic payment to the IRS cannot be used as the account information for the direct deposit of your payment. If we do not have bank account information for you and your payment has not been processed yet, Get My Payment will allow you to submit your bank account information once you have properly verified your identity so that you can get your EIP via direct deposit. Otherwise, we will mail your payment to (sic) address we have on file for you.” I still have not been able to get past the “Payment Status Not Available” page and enter bank info although I qualify and have filed both 2018 and 2019.

I’m in the same boat, @my3girls. All I get is “Payment Status Not Available”. I’m assuming it’s because my 2019 return hasn’t been processed. I don’t understand why that alone would hold things up since my 2018 return was processed last year and they could issue the check based on that return. We’re not required to file 2019 until 7/15, so is everyone who hasn’t filed yet having to wait for stimulus $ too?

Nope. My daughter and her husband have not filed 2019 yet and they got their $$$$ last week based on 2018.

My son had filed their 2019 and they got theirs based on 2019 (they were not married in 18 and he would not have qualified income wise based on 18 plus bank info changed so we know theirs was based on 19)

My youngest was a dependent in 2019 and filed as such though he worked 1/3 or more of the year and was on his own for that time. There is the little matter of his last semester college tuition , room and board that we paid in January, not to mention cell phone, health insurance help in getting settled into his job locale, down payment on car and apartment that makes him a dependent that year.

Yes, the one who has owed has entered direct deposit info on the IRS site after several attempts. Whether he got the info entered in time for this next wave of payments, he’ll soon find out.

While at my job, we were inundated with calls from folks who did not get payments. Some rhyme and reason to the why some got and some did not. Interestingly, incarcerated felons and those deceased among those who did get their checks in that first wave. Those who did not yet file for 2019 and would not have qualified for full amounts or any amount with 2019 income but qualified with filed 2018 got checks whereas those with similar/same AGIs that did file, didn’t get that bonus and will not unless perhaps 2020 income is below threshholds.

Those who used refund involved products are having mixed results. Those who took out certain loan products were a mixed batch. I wish there were stipulated systems but there are not.

I got in and added bank info for DD’17 and it said it would go to that account on a future date to be determined. Checked today and now it says they are mailing her a check on 4/24. Which is fine, but I thought it odd.

I’m giving up on entering our bank info. I’m in the group that had an overpayment but applied it all, that seems to be a flaw in the programming. I get a Technical Difficulties message after entering return and bank information. I’ll wait for the check.

Has anyone had a change from the original message of Payment status unavailable?

I’ve had no change from the original message.

Not me. I’ve tried every day

No change for me either.
