a place for us waitlisters

first of all, congrats to all who got waitlisted. yeah that's right, congratulations. i know for some it may not seem to be enough, of course everyone would like to get accepted, but being waitlisted means that you're almost there. that they considered you and they want you to go to their school but there's not enough room. so here's a place to share your experiences with the application process and don't forget to mention your school of choice. happy thoughts people!

Did Hotchkiss even reject anyone?? lol

I got waitlisted at Peddie. Anyone has any advice for me ?

keep your spirits up, stay positive

WL Deerfield. Is there a good chance of getting off the waitlist?

I love DA!!

I'm on the waitlist at Peddie too. I was rejected at Lawrenceville, so this is my only chance left. I really, really hope I get in!!

what grade are you going for ? Do you need Financial Aid ?

Can you share with me your stats ?

I got on the waitlist at Andover, I bet it's because they can't give me the financial aid I need. Oh well, I got accepted into Exeter and that was my first choice anyway. Keep up your spirits up, some people will reject the waitlist offer and you guys will be a step closer to your acceptance, and if not, then try again next year!

At a large, well endowed school like Andover, it seems unlikely that you would be waitlisted for financial reasons, unless your letter said something like that. For my applicant she received more aid than we were expecting based on the family contribution forms.

I applied for for 9th grade. Here are my stats:
- SSAT Score: 93% percentile overall
- Straight A's

- Piano 7 yrs
- Soccer 2 yrs
- Girl Scouts 7 yrs
- Photography (I sent in a small portfolio)
- M.U.N. (this year)
- Cello (new)
- Bass (3 yrs)

I need financial aid. Got rejected at L'ville, waitlisted at Peddie, & accepted to Hun. What do you think my chances are?

@deepsy52: you have a bigger chance than me. My profile is a lot worse than yours.

You have good SSAT score. I wished I had yours.

How much aid do you need ?

Thanks, but I'm still nervous. I know someone who got into L'ville with only one EC and a lower SSAT score than mine, so I'm not sure of anything anymore. The admissions process all seems kinda crazy to me.

I'll probably need a lot of FA, but Peddie IS well-endowed...

did that person need aid ?

Did you receive the admission decision package ? Or did you receive the email ? I haven't received the package yet.

I will need a lot too so I think my chance is about 0 now with a super low SSAT score + I am an international student

hey everyone~ congrats, at least we werent rejected...we still have hope! :)

i am waitlisted at all of my schools: Deerfield, Exeter, Andover, and Lawrenceville

and i need financial aid~do u think that may be a reason why i was waitlisted...?

these are all very well-endowed schools so im not really sure :/

I was waitlisted at Exeter.
4-5 on a 1-5 grading scale.
SSAT 96% overall, messed up on reading.

-Chess, 2 years.

I think I come under the category of "Has great potential, is very smart, but lack of organization and (sometimes) effort makes him fail". I did not apply for FA.

I live in China and I go to an international school. Also, Exeter has already accepted a 9th grade girl (one of my classmates).

Hey seikuu I go to an international school too in China (Beijing). I got waitlisted at Andover.

I applied for FA, but Andover has announced that it has implemented need-blind admission (FA information and other application materials go to separate offices). I don't think I qualify for FA anyway.

Is there anything I can do to try to improve my chances on the waitlist?

beefinbj, what school do you go to? I go to ISB (International school of Beijing). I've been there for 6 years now. I just found out I was also waitlisted for Andover. That makes 3 people in Beijing now (that I know of) lol.
