A-plus Schools for B Students!

What’s up fellow CC’ers. As we all know College Confidential is full of freaks with outlandish GPA’s, absurd knowledge of University Rankings and some of the greatest tiger parents to ever exist. If this sounds nothing like you – you’re in luck!

I am a 3.2gpa CCC student. I graduated High School with a 3.0gpa. On CC I’m a terrible student, in the rest of the world I guess I would be considered a decent student (maybe not IDK). If this sounds like you, you’re in luck!

I found something put on by USNEWS that I wish I would have known about as a High School senior!!!

USNEWS has created a list of schools, who statistically accepted more “B” average students than otherwise! These schools also have an average SAT score of Math + LIT of no less than 980 and no greater than 1500. So, if you scored between 490-690 on your SAT math or LIT these schools are for you!

These are the “A-plus Schools for B Students”

Ironically many of these schools are the best of the best that routinely accept B averages – LOL.
Thank USNEWS, they did the hard work for you all!

Anyways. Ironically, many of these schools are respectively ranked, and many offer a solid undergraduate experience that would be more than adequate at preparing a student for employment, grad-school or professional school.

There are options for National Universities, Regional Universities, Liberal Arts Colleges and Regional Colleges.

You might even find a new school that you would have never known about that you find super interesting!

Some particularly notable ones:

Cal Maritime Acadamy – Super cool school for anyone interested in Coast Guard, International Buisness and shipping, Military Naval Operation and, etc. Student-faculty ratio 14:1, (better than UC’s), Tuition $6k/year. They also offer Buisness, mechanical engineering and Maritime Engineering – which I find to be pretty bad ass. The kicker? They accept 80% of applicants, many of which have B averages! Rejoice Maritime loving 3.0ers.

Another awesome school, Soka University of America – Sounds weird right? Think again. They are ranked 41st among liberal arts colleges and have a BEAUTIFUL CAMPUS. I’m serious, check it out for yourselves. They are generous with admissions with an average combined Math and LIT SAT scores between 1080-1340 (not including writing)! They are more selective though with an admit rate of 44% BUT, if your looking for a really nice reach school, and your a B average student, don’t throw your money away applying only to schools where you probably have little to no chance of getting in (still apply to at least one though – no seriously, don’t pass an opportunity, don’t regret things later in life)!

St. Edwards University – An awesome regional university located in San Antonio! So your applying to CSU’s? Can’t get into the UC system? Got rejected from CAL POLY SLO? NO PROBLEM! St. Edwards isn’t far behind SLO’s (the best csu) ranking of 10 in the regional universities west ranking! St. Edwards is ranked 13th! The kicker? Thier 78.5% admit rate!! Also their average SAT scores for Math and LIT (not including writing) fall between 1020 - 1220. This school has an awesome campus and a decent faculty with a great faculty to student ratio of 13:1!!! And hey, it’s 61% female, they have this many dollars in endowment: $82,658,955 (yes you read that correctly) and did I mention the campus is BEAUTIFUL???

Lastly, from the National University list one school stands out among the others! USF – University of San Francisco! This school is severely underrated with EXCELLENT FACULTY (don’t believe me? Check their psychology faculty and staff and then form an opinion). Even so, they are ranked 99th in Nation Rankings. Sound too good to be true? Think again, they admit 61.1% of applicants with an average SAT of Math and LIT of between 1070-1270.

Listen guys, the point is, if you are feeling down about getting all your rejection letters right about now, and you’re a 3.0gpa, 1500sat or in that ballpark – you probably got rejected because you applied to the wrong schools. I just wanted to provide an AWSOME resource to help raise awareness for those above average, but not exceptional students who may be feeling a little undercut and depressed right about now! DON’T LOSE HOPE! Apply for spring 2016! Apply for Fall 2016! Set realistic goals and move forward!

Again, there are options for those who have less than all A’s, and no, it doesn’t have to be that local state school that all the University rejects enroll at! There are options for YOU!

Remember, School is what you make of it, but having a decent starting point is important too. This list will help you find good schools that will admit B average students!

xD Nevermind my spelling mistakes. I’m just a lowly 3.0 after all.
