<p>A friend of mine told me about an incident on her campus. This is one of the top 20 schools with a very lame/tame frat scene and a lot of geeks/nerds.</p>
<p>Over the weekend, there was a party at one of the fraternities. Apparently there was a complaint from a neighbor (I am guessing). Police came: over a dozen cruisers. One of the students got badly beaten up.</p>
<p>Probably the student was obnoxious. Even so, this is a very tame school with a very lame social scene, and this fraternity has a reputation as an “academically high performing one” with an average GPA much higher than that of the whole school that is already known for a studious and serious student body. Besides, given that no arrest was made, I highly doubt that whatever that student did warranted being beaten up. Remember: Gates was arrested by the police for verbal exchanges - so it has to be less than that.</p>
<p>It sounds like a case of police brutality and excessive force. Do you see/hear stuff like this in other campuses? Its kinda disturbing to hear stuff like this…</p>

<p>So an entire post with no actual facts. What do we comment on.</p>
<p>“One of the students got badly beaten up.” Even assuming the truth of this statement, on what basis do you determine that the police administered the beating? Is it not equally possible that at an out of control college party (even with a “lame social scene”), another party goer was also out of control? </p>
<p>Lots of assumptions (and as Erin’s Dad pointed out, a lot of “playing telephone” going on here).</p>
