Hi there,

I am a junior going premed- and I have three courses left to fulfill. I was planning on taking the MCAT in May but my school does not have any MCAT classes nearby- so that posed a serious problem. I am still planning to take the MCAT in May but in Cleveland. The biggest problem is that my mother fell ill and will be having a huge operation come February. Now, I want to go back home for the next semester from Jan- May to stay at home and take care of my mother. However, I also want to finish my pre-med courses as a visiting student at either Case Western Reserve University or Cleveland State University because I still want to be on track for applying directly to medical school in the summer.

I know that medical schools heavily discourage students from taking courses outside of their home institution, but in my case, would it be a legitimate reason to take the courses at home as a visiting student so that I can get credit transferred and fulfill my premed requirements in order to apply to medical school directly? - This is a health related reason- my mother has a disease called ulcerative colitis-
