So, I need a few examples of devices that convert rotary motion into linear motion.

Now, will the ‘wheel’ be a correct answer or the ‘car’?

Could you give me around 3-4 more examples?

You should ask this in the right place: [url=http://www.physicsforums.com/]Physics Help and Math Help - Physics Forums](http://www.flying-pig.co.uk/mechanisms/pages/wheel.html)

You should read this too (Mechanical actuators)

Cams? Cameras? How?

Thanks Longprime!

Like film I’m guessing.

Cams as in the type of machine part. Think camshafts.

Shows how much I know about real engineering…

Poor me. Does a computer engineer have to know these stuff??? Never bothered with mechanics too much. LOL

^loops producing ‘linear’ data.

Actually I do. Not quite sure about the connect between loops (are you taking about circuit?) and linear “motion” (and linear “data”).
But I happened to be reading a book on quantum computing, and the author mentioned the “Tinkertoy Logic”. Interesting connection there.

Anyway :)

dont forget a swimmer using the “breast stroke”

@jwxie
oops, I was thinking software and firmware types not hardware guys.
