a question about "reach" and "slight reach"

<p>What does reach and slight reach mean?</p>

<p>Someone posted that:
UCB and UCLA would be “reaches” and
UCSD would be a “slight reach”</p>

<p>What does that mean? Sorry I’m new to this message board thing. What I’m guessing is that I have a partial chance to get into UCSD and not THAT great chance of getting into UCB or UCLA…right?</p>

<p>Reach means it would be a small chance of getting into that school.</p>

<p>Slight reach means you have a better chance than a reach, but not enough to be considered a match. A match is you would make it, but not as safely as a safety (which you could probably guess the meaning of).</p>
