<p>I would say it’s rare enough to be UNusual that people <em>don’t</em> go straight to college in the US…especially a four year school with an international draw like all the ivy league schools. I’m pretty sure most people go straight to oxbridge as well, though I do know that gap years are more common in the UK than they are here in the states.</p>
