A quirk with "naughty" words circumvents the "***" feature

I assume this has already been mentioned, but when a poster uses a “naughty” word that triggers the site’s filters to insert "***** " in place of the word, the word is still plainly visible when you do a search of that poster’s replies.

An innocuous example (this is a very helpful, reasonably polite poster and this is in no way meant to get him in trouble, it is just a recent example): In this post <a href=“Official USC 2014 Transfer Thread - #5379 by dmdwelle - Transfer Students - College Confidential Forums”>Official USC 2014 Transfer Thread - #5379 by dmdwelle - Transfer Students - College Confidential Forums; poster dmdwelle uses a naughty word which is ****-ed by the system. However, if you click on the poster’s name and then on “replies” (top left), you can read his posts and see the naughty word in its unfiltered state.

Just though the powers-that-be ought to know the naughty words are sitting there, in plain view

A note to readers: the post I used as an example has been edited to delete the naughty word… Other examples abound, however wherever you see the filters insert " ****." Though the example has been dealt with, the problem remains…

Another amusing quirk is that if you do a forum search using a naughty word (which only just now occurred to me), you will get a long list of posts where the filters have replaced that word (and where they remain in full view using the replies search function).

Thank you…I know we’ve seen this in a few examples. Not so lovely :frowning:

It also happens when you do a post report flag. The actual post, including ALL letters comes up for you to read.

Maybe off topic, but how was the poster referenced able to edit his post at 2:33pm if it was originally posted at 1:46pm? I thought one only had 15 mins to edit?

“Post edited by MaineLonghorn on 3:33PM”

ML is a mod. Mods can edit after the window.

Ohh, I see, thanks!

No problem!

I reported this glitch months ago.
