I love a classic red lip, a la Taylor Swift. Have any of you ladies found a true red (many pink up on me terribly) that doesn’t bleed all over your coffee cups, wine glasses, etc.? Have you found better results with lipstick? Lip stains? Lip Gloss? I’m interested in specific product/brand recommendations or application techniques you’ve found to work. Thank you!

I would go to the MAC counter and get their help. I think they have some good reds and some of their formulas stay put pretty well. I love the Bare Minerals wand glosses over a red lipstick, but it does bleed some.

A red lipstick that does not get on cups and such? Or a red lipstick that doesn’t stain cups and such?

For ballet / dance recitals we’ve bought Revlon Colorstay - works as advertised - no bleeding. This is the 2 step kind where you put the color on then seal it.
Need to moisturize your lips afterwards though as it’s quite drying.

(the dance director specified that to avoid getting lipstick on costumes)

Niquii77 I’m looking for a red that won’t get on cups and glasses. I’m sure there will always be SOME transfer, but reds, especially, seem to get on everything, including scarves, collars, etc.

The new liquid lipsticks, which need an oil-based remover to clean off, may do the trick. Some of the better reviewed brands are Too Faced Melted (melted ruby) - https://www.toofaced.com/p/lipsticks/melted/melted-ruby/, Stila Stay All Day (fiery) - http://www.stilacosmetics.com/product/stay+all+day+liquid+lipstick.do, and Hourglass (icon) - http://www.sephora.com/opaque-rouge-liquid-lipstick-P375384?skuId=1439405.

Ive used colorstay, dont really wear red lipstick though. With red hair its a little much.
But it is as advertised. It doesn’t rub off.

I use the revlon colorstay as well…I use a fleshy nude color for day and a pink for a more made up look. It stays on forever. As has been stated, it comes with a clear gloss type sealer, but I prefer a shinier look so go for a different product for that. You can go to an event and it will still be on at the end of the evening. Only about $9.

I will give the revlon colorstay a try–thanks! Right now I’m wearing a L’oreal lipstain with a sponge-tip applicator in endless red… it stays put pretty well but turns more pink than red on my lips.

You could try a rose-red shade - that might not turn pink on you.

I can’t offer much about a specific red… but I can recommend Stila lipsticks and products in general. I have a Stila lipstick that is great and I love their eye shadows

I buy lipstick at Sephora; I am not loyal to 1 brand, but get to see a variety. It is better for me to spend $25-30 then to get random lipsticks, that don’t stay on long or shift in color.

On-air talent tend to use straws or stir-sticks that can be used as straws to keep the lipstick in place. That’ll keep it off the cup, too.

I searched for the Revlon color stay lipstick, but there were multiple products with that name. Is it sold on a tube with a wand or does it look like a regular lipstick?

It has the tube with the wand for the color and then another tube that you twist up that is a clear finishing gloss. Make sure that when you apply the color to let it dry for a few minutes before you apply the clear coat.
