My 11th grade daughter came home today with the news that her school will probably have a D rating next year. This school was an A school her first 2 years and dropped to a B this year. Due to an influx of students from an F school this year, the freshman class is nearly double the size of my daughter’s class and apparently they have not fared so well. My concern is how this will affect my daughter’s chances at T20 & Ivies. She is 10th of 459 with an unweighted GPA of 3.8. She has taken all honors classes with 7 AP’s this year, 5 for next year. Her class is one of the brightest ever at the school, with 29 juniors inducted in NHS. Over the past few years, the top 5% have had good success with admissions, but I am worried that this poor rating will realy hurt my daughter. Anybody have any experience with something like this? Thanks for your help!

Are the universities she applied to trying to enroll good schools?
No, they’re looking for good students. Your daughter sounds like a very good student, so the school won’t matter.

what the heck is a “A” school or a “D” school? it sounds like your state education board has been taken over by some diehard conservative educators…

//\ Welcome to Florida!

Kingkong, thank you, this is going to be my mantra!

They grade schools??

It might even be a help to your daughter to have risen so far in a difficult school/circumstance.
