A Solid SAT score

So I am new to the whole “SAT” test…can someone give me some good general information of what it is about? Also, is anybody willing to recommend outstanding (and recent) SAT books that help you get a good score? I am taking the SAT October 13th, so I have time to prepare for it. I want to know how much time you have for each section, and how the writing section affects your score. Thanks!

The SAT is a test usually taken by college bound juniors and seniors. It usually plays a role in determining your admission to a particular college and in some cases, influences how much merit aid and need-based aid you get.

The one and only book I would say you MUST have is the BB. The BB is The Official SAT Study Guide released by the test maker, the College Board. You should get te Second Edition of this book.Here is a link to the Amazon page of the second edition : [Amazon.com: The Official SAT Study Guide, 2nd edition: The College Board: Books](http://www.amazon.com/Official-SAT-Study-Guide-2nd/dp/0874478529)

For details on how much time you have for each section and the effect writing has on your score (about 25% or so of your writing score) look over the Preparation Packet released by College Board (it also has a practice test): <a href=“College Board - SAT, AP, College Search and Admission Tools”>College Board - SAT, AP, College Search and Admission Tools;

Thanks so much!
