a stupid question

This is probably the stupidest question in the history of cc

What happened to AP Physics A?
Why does it just not exist?

The College Board recommends[/url”>http://media.collegeboard.com/digitalServices/pdf/ap/2013advances/Physics_FAQs_June2013.pdf]recommends that you take a regular high school physics course before taking AP Physics B (which is being replaced with AP Physics 1 and AP Physics 2). It should be your second physics course, so they named it after the second letter of the alphabet.

This is officially my favorite question on CC ever.

Is AP Physics 1 just year one of physics now?

From what I gather, AP Physics 2 is a continuation of AP Physics 1, which is a first physics course without any physics prerequisites. AP Physics C will continue to exist in its original form.

Not a stupid question at all when you think about it. I tend to agree with halcyon here. Collegeboard denotes parts of course material with letter schemes (i.e. Calc AB & BC). Given this, it seems as though they assume you already have a basic “A-level” understanding of physics. Physics “B” tacks on the essentials and physics “C” throws in Calculus just for fun.

That’s not a stupid question.

Even better is Computer Science A still being Computer Science A despite AB being discontinued some time ago (although AP Computer Science Principles is coming out in 2 years)

I’m glad you like it, I guess

@louie412 Haha, I was being serious. A whole lot better question than the usual “I got a A-, are my chances doomed for HYPS?”
